It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

My skin is as thick as some of the heads over at Unleashed.
After all the short jokes, and the tossing the rod and reel overboard jokes, not a single person has been set on fire.
I think dude was really looking to get axed, though. I figured the Sky Gal crack was going to be the straw.
I'm glad I'm not a mod. Thankless job, really.

Not close, not by a mile...and like you said, Stam, BS pushed the mod into the corner and only left him one way out...either way, I think BS wears it as a badge of honor to get banned from every board other than araig.com...
Fish on...

I'm all caught up now on the "life sentence". I agree Sky-guy had to do it. I liked sticks pics.

Having been an Admin or Moderator on about a dozen different sites, I can certainly respect it when a Mod pushes the button to finally remove a problem member.
IMO, what makes a good moderator is their sense of fairness and ability to communicate that, and the ability to "push the button" when it has to be done along with the wisdom to know when not to. Mod-harassment is a felony offense on any of my sites, and the offender is generally awarded the boot.

The thing about this site, is that unlike so many of the 'other' places, this one allows people to have a personality. While there are rules, it doesn't feel like you are in grade school.
This place feels like a group of, get this, friends. It has a feel like a group standing around a campfire; trading stories, swapping tales, and passing a bottle or two. You can relate an event without divulging location, color lure, or secret cure, in full expectation of someone calling B.S., another applauding your adventure, and a few others silently nodding as they recount their own similar exploits.
We've all sat around with friends, listening to the same stories, from the same people, with exaggerations to details growing proportional to the amount of liquid memory being consumed. There's always the guy that likes to brag, or the one who flaunts the nicest gear, or who catches more/less/biggest/smallest/darkest/freshest..., there's usually a guy or two who drinks a little too much and burns a chair then and passes out early, and there are a couple quiet guys just riding the buzz, enjoying the moment. The next morning, we're all back to normal, doing our thing catching fish or hunting something, and having fun.
The nice thing about the interweb, besides sites exclaiming certain individuals as fishing legends... is that if you don't like something, you can choose not to click on it. You can pick another topic, go check e-mail, turn the damn thing off and tinker on the boat... whatever. Nobody has you in a choke hold in the front yard, calling you a bodagget. Granted, singling a person out (especially one with the Ban Wand) is taking it a bit far, but aside from that, people can choose to read/ignore/involve themselves in whatever they please... hell, just look that the KK/Hankster grudge match that’s in about Round 2,793 by now... What if, instead of banning Stick, any 'abnormally critical' or 'calling out' type posts, were simply mod edited to say, "I love kittens"? Win-win?
I'll wrap up with this. My girlfriend NEVER read a post on ifish, or any other site. 'BoyMyspace' has never gotten a rise out of her... BUT... she read Stick posts, usually while sipping a barley beverage.

I agree 100%. However Big Schtick was the guy who drove his jacked up 4x4 into the campsite, pissed on the fire and started calling everyone a pussy for not being from Alaska....on nearly every fuggin' post he made. Even when the topic had nothing to do with Alaska. If he'd been from Texas and fished for Bass & Walleye, he'd have been 86'd after post #3.

BUT...what if, mid-fire piss, Sky Guy sneaks up, jumps in the vacant jacked up truck, yells, "I love kittens!" out the window, and he hauls a$$ into the darkness? Oh, and anyone from Texas/bASSmaster lineage, should be choke-slammed on the intro post...

I never missed Stick when he was banned 2 or 3 years ago. He acted like an a$$hole in every post he made. This time he was still an a$$hole, but slightly less extreme, and he posted some good photography.
I asked Stam why he and many this time seemed to be sucking up to Stick since he was still being basically an a$$hole. Stam vouched that Stick is a nice guy in person. Stick isn't on this BB in person. He was here as an internet character, just like everyone is. On the internet he's an a$$hole, period.
A website's only value is its content. Except for some photography this go round, Stick was an a$$hole who added no value. Anyone who can't post without gloating about how great he is at whatever he does, and how everyone else in the universe sucks no matter what they do, is an a$$hole at best, and I'm not really sure when it comes to less than the best, not being all that well schooled in psychology.
It's not about being thick skinned. Like Dan S. mentioned, he's taken more than his share of internet abuse for an accident that could happen to, well, maybe not anyone, but could happen to many, and he hasn't burned anyone's house down - - - - yet. It's about adding value to the content of Bob's website, or at least not subtracting value from it. And that's what posts like Stick's do. They reduce the website's value.
Guess this means I won't be getting an invite from Stick to come up and fish his personal crick fulla' chrome, and a few boot, salmon and steelhead.

who's bigstick? i never had any problem with BS because i knew his intent was to fvck with anyone that responded to his posts. when you know the game and rules, you can be a player or just a spectator. i did really enjoy stick telling people like Keith that he doesn't know how to cure eggs - priceless, laffin'!

His internet persona was "angry ass clown with very poor social skills bordering on sociopath", in person, who knows. I personally would never choose to be in the same county with him. .. . . . an internet persona is like a woman PMSing, it just highlights attributes that are already there and gives an excuse for the behavior .. .IMO

I'm not sure where his InterWebz persona comes from, but from what I hear from those who have met him, and from the little bit of private communcation I've had with him, he seems straightforward and pleasant enough...honestly, so do most folks, once you meet them in person and separate them from their InterWebz schtick.
Fish on...
