I have been looking for a good used outboard for more than 3 months. I need a motor ASAP!!

My friend has a 16' Custom built wood jet boat, and has an 80hp Merc tiller-jet on it. He will only sell me the whole package. I only want his jet motor. So I'm trying to sell the boat and trailer for $1500. It's a really nice boat, with high sides, and a semi-V hull design. It has a complete storage cover included, and has been stored under cover, and used very little. Please e-mail for pics and more info.

I'm back out looking for a motor for my boat. Need a 75-115 tiller jet, in good shape, and prefer power trim/tilt & oil injected.

They run an ad in the Nickel regularly.They have used and rebuilds from what I understand.
Good luck in your search.If you buy used check it out thouroly or have a mechanic do it.Watch thos motors that have had a lot of salt water usage.Its usually pretty easy to tell
Just had a 115 merc rebuilt,cost about $3200 with about $600 towards power packs and stator>not Cheap.Seen powerheads on the internet in the range your talking for $3200Then count on more $ for assembly and carb work etc,Just wanted to give you an idea of the $ signs on some of your options.In case you didnt know.I'm sure they could vary a lot though

Thanks, I will call them tommorrow. The Evinrude was like you said, just full of saltwater damage. It would need just about every part replaced, and would cost way too much. The electrical components were unbelievably corroded, and too far gone to use, so the search continues.

If I can work out a deal on a 115 from a guy I'll have to sell my 90 Yama jet to be able to buy it.. My 90 is a good one.

Will have to let you know later.

I have a 1999 90 Honda Tiller Jet with an extended warranty that I will be selling in a couple of months if you can wait. It is an excellent motor.

Not sure if I will have a motor or not by that time. Used motors in this hp are very tough to find. Any idea what you will want for your motor? What is the reason for selling?

I'm want the Yahama 150 4 stroke coming out in a couple of months. I just want more power for my boat. My asking price will be somewhere b/w $5,500 and 6,000.

Hey just a idea until you find the right motor, I know how hard it can be, I looked for over a year to find a clean low hour unit,
anyway i would like to move the 40 LS tiller out of my garage, it should push you around fine just not in real skinny water, one way to get on the water now, the fish'es are coming pretty quick!! The price is right on it .

I have a 25" transom, so I would need an extra long shaft in a prop motor. So I don't think that will work, unfortunately. A long shaft prop motor needs a 20" transom. I have thought of this as well, and have been told that I need an extra long shaft, and to get an extra long shaft, most brands start @ 90hp for an extra long shaft.

You are correct, I did not think about your transom being set for a jet a motor, oh well

I seen a OMC 115 95' factory jet motor I think on e-bay? the other day he wanted 3K with remote controls for it and it was on the east coast he said it was low hours, i know how to ship 'em cheap get ahold of me if you find one that needs shipping it should be about 150.00 from coast to coast.

I saw the same thing on E-Bay as well. It's a 90hp/65hp jet Evinrude w/ controls. I have been back and forth w/ the e-mails, but I'm very uneasy to buy sight unseen.

I may have found a solution to my motor search. The friend w/ the 17' sled w/ 80hp Merc tiller/jet, called me last night. He said he would sell me his 80hp jet, if I could find him a 50hp-60hp LS Tiller Prop motor in a 4 stroke. I think this could be a lot easier to find than a jet/tiller motor. His 80hp has less than 100 hrs, and he will sell it to me for $3000. Oh Boy, a different search begins!!!!

Anything new on your purchase of the 115hp. Are you still planning on selling your 90hp Yamaha jet-tiller?

I'm still waiting to see if I can trade the 90 for the 115.

If not I'll probably put on the 200 Yama I have then sell the 90. My Willie will handle the 200 and the 90 is just a hair small for it.

But, I'm gonna try to hold out for the 115 for a while longer.

Sorry for the delay. I do want a 115 Yamaha.

I'm headed to AK. for a couple of weeks so maybe when I return I'll have an answer for ya.
