Obviously the HSRG believe the hatchery fish are detrimental to the wild fish population.
will the hsrg recommendation for the grays river lead to recovery, in your opinion ??, in my opinion it wont.

will the hsrg recommendation for the grays river lead to recovery, in your opinion ??, in my opinion it wont. I didnt read all the recommendations, I did see they want to add a certain amount of fish to that system, I dont know how involved the hatchery is, with that part of the project. The important part, was that it said that recommendation is not the only part of the solution. Habitat for example. The fact that they have that line to indicate the spawning area of the fall kings, raises questions how can we supplement that. Im not a biologist or anything related to science. I just know that you dont go backwards cause you havent got a clue how to go forwards. Your analysis doesnt mean they dont have anyone looking at the watershed to develop a plan that will increase spawning pair and production. I mentioned nets, seals and habitat. I dont know what creek run into the main river. I dont know how the river floods or what dries up in the summer and those are required to proceed, with an egg box program. If they have the same gene pool as the Tule kings, I would ponder if its feasable to transfer a dozen pairs of fish and let them find some gravel. As long as they cant get out, they will probably find gravel.

If RR fish are planted in the columbia, they arent going back to the rouge, are they... if not, its irrelevant. Bob Barthlow and clients caught a big humpy on the klickitate or at the mouth. It sounded to me, from the comments it wasnt suppose to be there. It might be like Big Stick falling in love with ifish.

Funding provided by BPA ratepayers. Hey, I see the same thing up here in my neck of the woods. The net pen fish don't know where to go. So, they stray; looking for any drainage to run up.

Slabhunter,
That makes me wonder about what will happen to the fish destined for the Safe Area for the SFS program. What will happen to those fish.?

I have an idea boater, you could string your tangle net across the entire mouth of the grays and cull out the rogue river fish and then revive the native fish in a revival box circulating that 73 degree water down there. You love those tangle nets that might be a good use for em' eh?

I wasnt fishing twelve years ago. Whats your point. He's saying the SAFE areas have a proven track record. Yes, the expansion occurred in the mid-1990's but the first efforts began in Youngs Bay over a decade earlier. Even without SAFEforSalmon, the states' are expanding SAFE production for the benefit of the gillnetters and in part because of the HSRG. Oregon is transferring production of 250k springer smolts; WA is transferring coho and a tremendous increase in lower river chinook. Because CCA couldn't get behind the concept of moving the commercials completely off the mainstem and into the SAFE areas, these smolt production transfers & increases are now occurring with ZERO being given to sports anglers in return.

Boater is a gill killer but just won't come out and say it. If you buy any of his propaganda I'm sorry for you. SAFE salmon stray factories are a hoax. My good fishing buddy killed 53 springers out of big creek in 2008. Bastard gillnetters dump a chemical in blind slough to attract salmon, think its called rose water or something. It looks like a scene from deliverance down there round BOATERS country. When you launch out of clatskanie boat launch the inbred gillnetters have spray painted a warning to guide boats on the old train trestle. Nice try with the scare tactics trying to steer sportfishermen away from the CCA, the only thing you have succeeded at doing is making people aware of the gillnetters rape of our columbia river. I can't wait till boater has a pile of rotting nets growing moss out in front of his doublewide trailer. Can't wait till these netters have to go get a real job like the rest of the real world.

Rather broad statement since SFS was only submitted in Oregon, apparently for the first time, last year.

We only have so many days to fish out there boater because a hundred years of gillnetting has turned the chinook on the columbia in the spring an endangered species. Fishing the day after you net all the salmon, sturgeon and steelhead to death the sport fishing goes to hell. But what choice do we have? Your 2 year old neighbor won't even know what a springer is if you keep up your ways of killing the river. Funny you were hiding in the weeds trying to spin everything around. A gillnetter on a sportfishing forum, shows me you netters are getting desperate. I am going to keep pumping even more money into the CCA, time to rally the troops and get this ball really rollin, get out your checkbooks, the time to strike these netters is NOW! Let's GO!

I see what you mean AuntyM. Some people's kids. It appears some a suffering from terminal lack of life experience. Remember it's better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Are you desperate for a wing man?

Are you desperate for a wing man? It's a rare occasion that AuntyM and I agree on any subject, but in your case I'm going to have to agree with her, you do need to sit down and STFU.
