One thing that has crossed my mind many times, is how I would be judged by a jury. Would I get some tree huggin', life lovin', rainbow knitting, fairy do gooder? Or would I get a jury of people that think that my actions were truly justified? In the split second that I dropped the assailant, my life would forever change. I would either live with the image ingrained in my head of dropping the guy and thankful that my family was safe and carry on my life as normal. OR, I would now be locked up behind bars because I didn't call 911 and wait for them to respond.
Don't get me wrong, I know I would shoot, I'm just sayin'......
Seems like either way, it's a big gamble. Shoot and you could be screwed, don't shoot and you are screwed along with your loved ones.
I think it's a roll of the dice on how the jury is feeling that day.
I would like to think that somehow, someway justice would be served by the courts, but in the homeowners favor and not the slain assailants.

9A.16.050

(2) In the actual resistance of an attempt to commit a felony upon the slayer, in his presence, or upon or in a dwelling, or other place of abode, in which he is.

The statute in Washington state appear to be very simply and broadly stated.[19]

Washington state doesn’t have a specific Castle Doctrine law, but has no duty to retreat as precedent was set when the State Supreme Court found "that there is no duty to retreat when a person is assaulted in a place where he or she has a right to be

GoHarley - I was looking for that exact pic to go along with my previous post  I think that generally speaking , most people on a jury if it actually came down to it, can sympathize with any home owner if they were standing before the judge. Just be thankful we don't live in Crazyfornia, otherwise all bet are off. I personally would like to throw Child Molesters into the same arena as home invaders. Molest my child, you'll end up in a wood box.

Truth be told, I had a great-uncle that took THREE .45 slugs in one sitting. Including one to the melon. It was a workplace 'postal' shooting at a jobsite in Oakland back in the 60's. He would have bought it then & there along with his two other coworkers if he hadn't been a civil engineer and wearing a metal pocket-protector. He took the one lodged in his skull and the one that ricocheted off the protector and traveled to his leg to his grave, 35 years later.

I use a progressive defense load pattern in my 357.The first two rounds are snakeshot.That won't stop anybody but stings like hell.
The next two rounds are semi wad cutters loaded backwards.Those won't penetrate but will knock you down.The third two rounds are 158 gr. jacketed hollow points with the hollow points drilled out and shotgun primers pressed in backwards.I call these disrupters.If I have to get to those your probably going to be cut in half.If I get called on whether I used excessive force,I can point out that he would't stop on the non lethal rounds.This also helps if a child has got a hold of the weapon.The snakeshot probably won't seriously injure anybody but should scare the hell out of the child if he discharges the weapon.If needs be in a confrontational situation,I can get six rounds off in under four seconds. If the intruder is close enough, you wont get four shots. True, they would stop some, but keep in mind, a guys with a knife within 21 feet, will stab you, before you can draw and fire. Its taught in hand gun courses. If the guy has a gun, your buckshot isnt going to defend you. If the guy gets a chance to knock down your weapon, you got a problem. If hes still coming after the first shot, he could be on pcp or something else. The video example doesnt reallly give you a true example. Maybe that dipstick's "tough guy" status got trimmed down a bit when he had to change his shorts.
That doesn't make the bow hunting score charts, IMO....it does, however, make the "my stupidity almost got me/us killed" nominations.

No. Watching some tourist assf*ck on a canned hunt tag a hippo with a bow after its been blasted 2x with an elephant gun (watch it close) doesn't thrill me at all. Matter of fact, canned hunts rate up at about 9.9 on the all time pussy scale, right under...well I can't think of anything more pussy than a canned hunt, except maybe buying a military medal on Ebay and telling people you're a war hero. Or shooting a tied-up veal calf with a .505 Gibbs from the back of a truck and mounting the head on your wall. That reminds me--The Makah blasted their whale with an Elephant Rifle right before the "team" came up and poked it with a 'traditional' wooden harpoon. Very manly.
