After our nice weekend on the Grande Ronde we got home to find out that my Honda Civic, my GF's Santa Fe, and my sisters Jeep Liberty had all been broken into in our driveway! For some reason they didnt touch my Ram. There wasnt very much noticeable damage to any of the vehicles even though they were all locked. They completly ramsacked all the inside compartments but luckily we dont keep anything valuable in our vehicles becuase of past problems. As far as we can tell nothing was taken, not even my leatherman that was sitting in the cup holder. I cant believe how bold these guys are, my next door neighbor is a sargeant with the Seattle PD and the guy directly across the street is with the WSP and parks his police car in his driveway.

I as well live in a "good family neighborhood" about a year my neighbor that is a Seattle PD sergeant had his work car stolen, it was a honda accord and was filled with his swat gear, minus the guns. It was recovered in Leavenworth. They never did find the guys that did it.

Happy fuckin holidays...I wish there was something to be done. It's not as bad as actually being broken into, but it's a serious cramp on a good fishing day to every once in a while get a feeling that you need to boogie up to your rig just to make sure it and its contents are still there.

Just like fishyness said, when I'm tooling around on the rivers and see guys hanging out around rigs, I usually slow down and ask them how the fishing is...but I do it mainly to see if they should be standing around those rigs or not. Most the time they are the owner of the car and are getting in or out of it...but a few times they jump into another rig and boogie without any conversation.

One of the tweaker crews up in Sky Valley knows me and my rig, since I caught them redhanded screwing with it a few years ago, had the cops come, and the cops impounded their car and arrested a few of them, eventually with two of them ending up pleading guilty to 3rd degree theft.

I thought that might put a bigger target on my rig, but...knock on wood...no incidents since then.

I hate having to feel like I have to have an eagle eye out there for everyone walking or standing along the roads, but I guess it's better than the alternative.

Fish on...

Todd

Two doors down on both sides of my street I have two retired WSP troopers.

There's also no reason ANYONE should be in my neighbourhood between 2AM and 5AM, but still I got hit.

This [censored]'s why I want to buy some POS tow rig with all the windows busted out and the glovebox lid torn out.

I HATE leaving my truck at popular fishing holes & launches because I know they are patrolled more regularly by criminals than they are by Law Enforcement.

Yep, I got hit a few weeks ago. They broke out one of my mini vans window.

Just one of 6 cars hit in the neighborhood that night.

Not tweeker's, just gang bangers.

Something about the phone to my ear talking to the fuzz while they were standing there dumbfounded kinda put 'em off their game.

I'm sure the three foot metal bar I pulled out of my rig and was pointing at each of them as I described them to the coppers might have diminished their enthusiasm...plus, I was bigger than any two of them combined, and they thought I was crazy to confront five of them.

Holding a metal bar, a phone, being bigger than them, and holding a metal bar...plus them thinking I'm crazy...a good combination for a good ending.

Fish on...

I could have...but it would have looked a little funny, since I was outside the rig with 'em smile

I'll keep that in mind next time I see some as I'm driving though...that should send those fuckin rats scurrying for the nearest sewer!

Todd,

They knew you were crazy, but that's not what rattled them. They thought that acting the way you did, you were crazier than they were. That's what had 'em dumbfounded to inaction.

The way the world is going lately makes me think that the only metal bar to be pointing at the fvktards is one that is hollow and measures 9 or 10 mm or so.
