Wow! Sort of shocking, but then again they probably have interviewed some new GMs and they probably all said they would want to put their own people at HC, so it makes sense.
I feel like Jim got sort of a raw deal. I mean he is coming in on the heels of the Big Show, but really seemed to have lost the team down the stretch.
I hope they make a splash with the next guy, like they did when they got Holmgren. The Hawks have one of the best/richest owners in football, they should be able to get some real talent.

Yes yes yes yes yes. I know the guy got the short end on following the big H and the team was on the slide but you need to show improvement over a season. No improvement noted and he had no real fire. No red in the face, spitting, screaming moments that could have lit a fire under the boys asses. With a season like we had we should have at least seen 10 or 15 of those. Hope the next guy can get it going.
Any idea who we are looking at. Maybe we could use Chucky. I know the monday night booth wont miss him that bad. Maybe even Billy C after his run so we with the steelers. Just a few thoughts.

Wow, kinda surprising but then again the after game interviews were so passive it was frustrating.
Would be nice to get Chucky, that type of intensity is what the Seahawks need. What the hell has Gruden done that make so many people think he is such a great coach? He took Tony Dungy's team and won a super bowl. He had nothing to do with the way that team was built. After that SB win,Tampa went straight in the shitter. His teams were .500 or worse in 7 of the 11 years he was a head coach. If it wasn't for a 12-4 year in Oakland, and a 12-4 year with Dungy's team,he'd be under .500 as a coach.

Whoever we bring in they need to do some serious work on the O'line. I dont give a damn if we have Manning.....the one that starts with "P" back there, if you cant complete a 3 step drop without someone hanging on your shoulders, you wont throw for much. Same thing with the running game. No hole, no yards. Lets spend some money there and not just a huge contract for our new coach and GM.

He is right at .500 as a coach, but I think he is obtainable and a hellofalot better choice than Mora. I tend to remember his pulling the Raiders up more than I acknowledge him running the Bucks into the ground... my fault. Sure getting Dungee would be great but I question if that is a realistic scenario.

Looks like Carroll is a lock for not only coach but basically team president as well with full control over player decisions? Interesting day on good ole sports radio for sure.

Really nice benefit to having the richest owner in the NFL. "Hey Moran, take a hike and heres 12 million for your trouble".
Having personel control is huge in the NFL, he can get his own people and make all the big calls and yep USC is about to get spanked with sanctions. With an anticipated 20-30 players gone from current roster he will get more than one year, as the hard part is getting enough young players to put it all together especially at the QB position.

Bringing in Carroll is bringing in another Mora.
Allen roles the dice again. Allen should have payed Cowher 10 mil a year and given him a private jet to bring in a proven winner to Seattle.
The hawks are about to repeat the Dennis Erickson years, someone should express mail the Dennis Erickson tapes to Allen as a sublte hint of the future.

USC is about to get slapped down with a pile of sanctions, it's smart for him to bail. He should be a good NFL coach, but his ability to win at USC was more credited to his ability to recruit, not as much to his coaching. He does know how to win though so that should help. I would be more excited to see him out of the pac10 then anything. This is spot on I would rather see Bill as our coach though

There is NO salary cap in 2010 more than likely. Paul Allen has agreed to be VERY aggressive this year in free agency and along with the # 6, 14 and 38 picks we will get a half dozen or more new starters. I like Cowher as well but he is a deep rooted SE US guy and is waiting for a job to open in Carolina or Florida, no way he had any interest in moving here where Carroll is from the Bay area and is a West Coastie 100%.
No way Carrol is coming here without control over personel. That has always been his pet peeve about his past NFL experience and cmon he coached the Jets and Pats in the 90's and still had a winning record with nothing other than coaching control.
I like it the more I think about it, this team needed to be dynamited and the big blow just happened with the player explosion soon to follow.

I wonder if Pete would switch to the 3-4 defense ? We got the backers but missing a dominant Nose tackle. Mebbe we could get Willfork from the Raiders to play NT...I believe he is a free agent.

No Zorn
No Carrol, hawks already had a national championship coach in Erickson. I dont trust the move from college to nfl.
Cowher would be awsome and he knows the refs gave him a superbowl. Maybe he will do it just to give seattle a championship.

They can't name Carroll until they interview a minority. Frazier is their choice for that interview but that's more than likely just a formality so the Fawks don't get slapped with a huge fine.
Frazier can't interview until after the Vikes are done with the season.
Think they'll interview anyone else to get the Carroll ball rolling? Hank, The Hawks interviewed Frazier last night I believe.

The Hawks problem was talent not coaching...........................

Another lost decade for the Hawks! PC is bringing some talented coaches to his staff, this is not offical but a pretty good line up. Carroll's Coaches Written by Chris Sullivan Sunday, 10 January 2010 18:08 Moving forward under the assumption that Pete Carroll will be our head coach in 2010, here's what we think we know about his staff: •Norm Chow is the reportedly the top choice for offensive coordinator. Chow is a legend when it comes to QB development. • •DeWayne Walker is the top guy, and really just about the only guy, that we've heard regarding a defensive coordinator. • •Jeremy Bates is interviewing with Chicago this week, but it sounds like Carroll wants him, probably as a QB coach. He helped develop Jay Cutler, so y'know, if you want whiny d-bags, he's the guy! Not really, he's a good coach... • •Ken Norton Jr. has reportedly been tabbed as the guy (according to ESPNews -- thanks Randy!) to coach our linebackers. He is currently the LB coach / Assistant head coach at USC. He's done alright there, I suppose. Four of his LBs came out in the draft last year and all four were getting significant playing time in the NFL this year. Bear that in mind: FOUR linebackers out of three starters. Whaaaat? Look for Curry to absolutely decimate the universe

big big big mistake
here is a guy that coached two other pro teams and did not win anything and you people act like he is a god. all he is is a looser as a pro coach and will be gone in three years and the seahawks will be worst than they are now. he is running from usc before all the sanctions come down

Larryb, he was not a "looser" in the NFL. FYI His record was 33-31.

Carrol is not a bad coach and could even be called a very good coach (I met PC a few years ago @ SeaTac. He was very engaging and treated me with a ton of respect. After about ten minutes I wanted to go play football for him. I was extremely impressed. To bad he's walking into a train wreck). But he sure as hell aint nearly as good as Holmgren who took this talented bunch to 4 wins last year. 5 wins this year. Don't matter who the coach is the talent sucks!!!! 5 pro bowlers on offense alone during the SB year and now they don't have a single pro bowler.
Add that Seahawks management is doing their very best to behave like the Raiders or Redskins management and you've got a decade of loosing football!
So-Just how good was Walter Jones? Now we are finding out what football is like without the best O tackle to ever play the game!
Good luck finding a GM!

Having draft picks 6,14,and 38 is huge in turning things around. I say pick Clausen or Bradford with our first pick and let Matt go after next season.

How many 1st and 2nd round draft picks have been wasted on linemen over the last ten years? One or two every year as I recall and how has that worked out? A Walter Jones and a Cortez Kennedy are once a decade players. Every bit as difficult to find as a Pro Bowl quality QB. I hope the Hawks can turn it around quickly but the way the front office has been acting ever since losing Hutch, nameing Mora the "coach in waiting" and then running a HOF coach out of town I am not very confident!
Miami is a good example. The Big Tuna is running things there with an iron grip. The Big Show will soon be doing the same thing in Cleveland. Who's running the show in Seattle?
I'll say it agian. Another lost and pathetic decade for the Hawks!
But with that good luck Pete!!!!
p.s. Good news for the Dawgs though! Good timing too with letter of intent day still 3 weeks off. Time to poach some Trojans!!!

[quote=BroodBuster] Another lost and pathetic decade for the Hawks! /quote] Do you really think that MR Allen will not do whatever it takes to put us on top ? Ask Jim Mora....if PC does not get it done in short order, he too will be packing his bags. This owner is passionate and is worth more than all of the owners combined. IN PAUL WE TRUST.

Just like those dedicated owners that have been spending money hand over fist in Washington and Oakland!
It's the NFL. It has a hell of a lot more to do then money. There is luck, talent and best of all owners that stay the hell out of the way after hiring FOOTBALL people to run the FOOTBALL organization. Consistancy is the number one thing that makes an NFL franchise succeed. How many coaches have the Steelers had in oh 40 years? Patriots? Packers? How bout the Hawks who had one coach for the 90's. How did that decade go?
Now they are slipping down a bad path............................

I hope you're not comparing Paul Allen to Snyder or Al Davis. Allen is 99% hands off, this coaching change came from the top,and is the only time I recall Allen ever making a personal change. The nice thing I see with hiring PC ....is that he is not going to be taking the roll of GM..but will likely have input. The GM hiring is going to be just as important, if not more so. I'm not usaully a big fan of college coaches coming to the NFL,but PC has won 7 straight pac 10 titles and two national championships, and has had NFL experience. Money does not always buy championships, but it sure does help.

This team needs to get it right in this up coming draft. I hope Clausen is available at the 6th spot. Bradfords shoulder worries me some. The 14th pick on best LT or OG, 38TH on Gephart or Blount from Oregon ( the one that knocked out the Boise State player..he would be awesome with next to Forsett.

I'm pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful off season the Hawks have had so far. Just one great free agent pick up after another. Especially where we need them on the O and D lines!!!! Not to mention about all the talent at running back and wide receiver! Now that we have a backup quarterback and a special teams specialist I think the pieces are finally all together and it's Superbowl here we come........................ NOT
