Actually he's "happily" retired.

And arguably the top rod to ever set foot in my boat in terms of his strike:hookup:land ratio. I used to just call him "Mr 100%".

Dude's actually a die hard C&R guy. That was just his reaction when I told him all hatch fish MUST die.

Or was it when I told him he had to join CCA? wink

Boy some of you guys suck at ID'ing fish. I wonder if some of you even fish at all...or at least catch any? rofl

I scanned this from last page to first. When I saw Parker's photo-shoped fish, I thought, "that ain't no steelhead tail, but then Parker must know his fish". It is not square enough and not wide enough in caudal peduncle for a steelhead. Then I saw Doc's original picture, without the added spots. Takes all the guess work away.

That Parker is a sneaky one.

Hey now, there's only SO much I can do in Photoshop. laugh

One of of my all-time favorites is still this shot:

One little subtle change that threw a ton of people off, since everyone knows the river.

Just ask Doc what it is!

YUP... pie in my face.

That's the infamous fish that first got me looking really hard at anal fins as part of the identification process.

My wife is a good sport - she didn't mind me having her painted up like that.

Probably whatever time you're showing up, as I'll be at the local ale house for my monthly "book club" meeting.

"Book Club" rofl

Hear that TJ and Summerrun and even KK (although he's yet to EVEN contact me all this time he's been in da hood)? Book Club is tonight. You know the Ale House. I'll be there by 6.

Isn't it funny how that fish and the one I posted on the other thread have nearly identical anal fins....

Actually I think they look rather distinct.

The one from 4 years ago has a distinctly convex trailing edge. From all of my observations, the convex trailing edge in the presence of a broad base is extremely specific for chinook. They won't all have it, but if you see it, it's a king.

The more recent pic has more of the pointer finger configuration to the leading edge with a concave trailing edge. This pattern appears to be more common in coho.

Since the rest of that fish also screams coho.... I voted coho.

easy to eliminate sockeye and chum as with a very few exceptions both of those species have no spots on the tail. Spots aren't big enough to be a humpy. The scales on the back are more of a coho blue...nooky scales would be more purple.

Coho it is
