I'm looking for a family sized SUV, kinda leaning towards a RAV 4 right now or a 4 Runner, but am open to other options. Not really looking for "big three" option, but any other similar ones might be considered. Anyone got any advice?

Oh yeah Birther, tea party, palins vagina, and sharia law.. That should allow this to fit in with the rest of the threads.

I have been eyeing the Ford Flex.

I was really impressed with the Chrysler Pacifica when I checked it out while waiting on my Jeep at the dealership.

Rav4 is not a very comfortable car for traveling or getting kids in and out etc.

My CRV is a nice small SUV with plenty of power and good milage. I have only put 35.000 miles on it so, no idea how durable it will be, but so far I love it. It seats 4 comfortably;but no more.

How about a Subaru Forester or Outback. Each has won SUV of the year the last 2 years. Plus they are both outstanding vehicles.

If you need a 2000 4 runner in excellent shape I am the guy to talk to. We are looking for a tahoe.

Toyota all the way. Volvos are nice and used to be the best-made care the world ever knew but IMO they are garbage now. A family member has a Cross country with less than 100k and it has problem after problem.

Yeah, I own a 2000 4-Runner and it's great, but I'm steering clear of Toyota's for a while. I'm mulling the Honda Pilot.

We've had a 4-Runner and put aout 60K on it; mostly longer trips. We have been really satisfied with the quality, performance, and (actually) economy. No problems so far.

Major hauling room that stays DRY.

Weez in da market too. Looked at a lot of them but havent drove many because we dont want to talk to the sales person yet. We have been looked Nissan Murano, Suby Outback, Rav 4, Ford Freestyle, Chevy EQ, and Toyota Highlander. All used are from $9,000 - $17,000. I'm leaning towards the Outback because I had a couple of 83' subarus in the 90's and loved them. Driven Outbacks and I like the changes. Want to try the MUrano but it looks like it may some blind spot issues?

For our grocery-getter, we looked at Ford, Toyota, Subaru, Honda, VW, Audi, BMW, & Saab.

Wife decided she wanted a wagon. And it HAD to be AWD.

That left Subaru, VW's 4-Motion Passat, Audi's A3 and the BMW 328xi and the Saab.

We test drove the Subaru and the VW.

Then we test drove the BMW and didn't even bother with the Audi & Saab. It helped that BMW offered us .01% APR financing, but that was just the icing on the cake.

The Subaru was underpowered and noisy. The Passat we felt was overpriced for the drive and reputation and the VW dealer was kind of a dick. The BMW guy handed us the key and said "have fun."

I guess what Im getting at is that you should get an idea of what price range you're looking at, and then test drive all of them.

And be leery if the Salesdouche wants to ride along with. Salesdouches are your enemy and you should never miss an opportunity to tell him how much you think his car sucks.

A few years ago, I bought a Honda Element. I've owned a few other Hondas over the years, and they've always been durable. Always a lot more pleasant to work on (when I used to do all my own car work) than any of the Big 3s.

I live in snow country, work in areas that are up dirt roads and cross the passes frequently, so AWD/4x4 was a requirement. I needed to be able to carry carpentry tools, and wanted to keep them dry, most of the time. I also wanted something that got better mileage than a Toyota truck. Something that was relatively kid proof was desirable, too.

It gets around in the snow better than either of the 2 Subarus I've owned, and the rubber mats mean I don't have to worry about spilled bait or leaky coolers (or kids throwing food) ruining the carpet! If I take out the back seats, I can carry a surprising amount of cargo. I also sometimes pull a small trailer.

It just went over 100,000 miles today, and except when I took out a mulie, I haven't had to do anything else except regular maintenance.

Hank,

Thanks for the PM, we'll take a look at the highlander.

I'd like to have a Subaru, but their choice of groups to donate to I refuse to support.

Just because someone is an under-handed lying sack of schit for a living doesn't mean I have to respect them or be kind to them.

Whores have jobs too. Someone has to suck dick for pocketchange.

I have more respect for them. They don't lie to get your money.

I owned a 2006 RAV4 for 2 years. Not a bad little package but seriously under-engineered for what they price those things.
I have had two VW Passats, both very reliable and no issues, I'd buy another Passat wagon in a minute.
Subie Outback or Forester is another.
Don't buy the Toyota hype...they deserve the black eye they're getting.
Toyota superiority is a myth...and I've owned two of them.

Not really. Our cars were bought new. So shove it.

Your right on top of the list you stupid old harpy. I guess any job is more respectable than what you've spent your life doing. Which is jack schit.
