Karl Rove wrote a book, spinning the spinning spin about how great the Iraq War was and is...
I'd like to read it, if for the humor factor at least...but I don't want that little pigeyed weasel to get one damn penny of my money.
What to do?
Fish on...

My quesiton would be why on God's earth would you want to read anything wirtten by Karl Rove in the first place?
If even to delve into the mind of a sociopath I couldn't comprehend even wanting to pollute my mind with such filth.
If you want to read quality columns on the wars go read Justin Raimondo's and Philip Giraldi's columns over at antiwar.com

There's a weird sense of morbid curiosity to look inside the mind of such a little rat as Karl Rove...kind of like everyone slowing down on the freeway to look at a wreck on the other side...wouldn't want to miss seeing a severed limb on the road Fish on... Todd

I think I'll wait for Hank to buy it, then I'll just nick it from him. SW, I knew we'd find something that we agree on 100% sooner or later...and calling Rove a "weasly little douchenozzle" is it Fish on... Todd

If I can stomach an Al Gore book Todd should be able to stomach a Karl Rove book!
As for anything regarding Iraq, were suicide bombers are targeting voters so somebody must be doing something right, best to wait 20 years and wait for the historians account.
Anybody coming to conclusions today are spouting politics and not a "historical" accounting!
I'm currently reading a book on the Revolutionary War. I'm at the battle of NY. Half of the island were loyal to the King and the other half thought Congress was mad to take on the King! Funny how different things look with a bit of time.

Half a million dead Iraqis and over 2 million refugees will look the same no matter what the time frame.
Like I said-Give it twenty years. No one now knows whether freedom will breakout with a Nascar race in Baghdad or another tyrant sweeps into power??? As for the numbers you state that is just typical leftist subterfuge. The numbers where probably twice that when Saddam was still in power. So one could argue a half a million lives saved and over 2 million less refugees. But go ahead and spin the spinning spin spin It's what we do............. It is funny though that the moment Obama takes power we no longer hear much about Iraq? So many problems simply disappear the moment a Dem takes the White House??? p.s. I would never read or buy a book by Karl Rove. Talk about a guy I could give a rats ass about.

Well, the last place I would come from is a leftist prospective but it seems you're doning a neocon koolaid mustache. Let me hand you a napkin.
By your logic we should just "wait things out another 20 years and see what happens". That's brilliant, really. Nevermind the fact that we have no business there in the first place. Whatever Sadam did in the eighties and early ninties,.....we allowed him to do it and gave him the means to do it with. Read your history.
I find it funny so called conservatives will lose their collective minds over budget issues, yet when it comes to foreign policy they have no problem justifying a $1trillion a year in paying for a world wide empire and two unjustified wars going on close to a decade now. As if we had some sort of divine right to stick our noses in other people's business.
Here's a news flash,.........the people of Iraq didn't attack us on 9/11. In fact,.......neither did the people of Afghanistan.
Make no mistake though I'm no pacifist, attack when attacked. Although I've got a serious problem when war becomes nation building. I've got a serious problem when "preemptive or preventative" warfare becomes policy. That's a slippery slope. Is winning war at all cost worth trashing the Constitution and bankrupting the country at the same time? Not to me it isn't.

I said all the same things about the Iraq war stinking, but I just got bashed for it. Said the same things about Rove too... but I just got bashed for it.
Don't be going all moderate on us. "They" don't like that kind of thing here. I could give a damn what people like or don't like. I'm not long on this board but that doesn't mean I'm without my opinions, and I'm hardly a moderate. I come from the prespective of the "Old Right". The conservatism of Robert Taft, George Bender, and the America First Committee. The real roots of the antiwar movement in America. The left has traditionally been the proliferators of interventionism in America.

There now taking credit for Iraq's accomplishments. And what accomplishments would that be? It's been 7yrs and that place is an even bigger hell hole than when we started. Sevens years, hundreds of thousands of theirs dead, thousands of ours dead, billions of dollars wasted. What do we have to show for it?

Glad to see that Salmo. I wish both sides could come together on this and realize what a mess we've gotten ourselves into. Going forward things aren't looking much better on the foreign policy front either. A lot of chest thumping going on with Iran and Pakistan,......where does it all end? Are we destined for perpetual warfare? Sorry Todd didn't mean to jack your thread. I tend to get a little heated on this issue.

The garbage that spews forth from the Kristol/Podhoretz wing of the republican party never ceases to amaze me.
Never a serious discussion of political philosophy. Only weak attempts to conjure emotional responses from the listener. Never address the message, always the messenger.
Disgusting people the lot of them.

SW, I was talking about a book that claims to know one way or another about the outcome of the Iraq war. I think it's way too early to tell! To even write such a thing just stinks of politics. I'll wait for the historian's account!
As for the current state of affairs or what we should do from today forward that is and should be debated, hopefully for the betterment of all Iraqis. The fact that they are preparing for elections this weekend (I think it's this weekend?) is a decent start.
The real test for the Iraqi people and their government will come as US troops move out. Again way too early to tell how this plays out so again to write a book about it is simply stupid unless you are pushing a politcal agenda.
I understand you don't like the fact we went there in the first place. Bad intellegence is pretty much always going to lead to FUBAR.

So we're waiting for the historians' accounts, huh? I'm sure they'll all say the same things about Iraq. Just like we are now.

Get a library card under Hanksters name then fail to return it.
"Bad intellegence is pretty much always going to lead to FUBAR. "
That was spot on. An idiot for a president is big time FUBAR.
I thought it was blatantly obvious what Bushes brat was capable of before his first term. During his first campaign his quote about Saddam...."He tried to kill my dad". Now if you were running for the highest office in the land and were asked your thoughts about Saddam is that what you'd come up with? Anyone who voted for him after that shares responsibilty.
And Cheney....I'm starting to think that cyborg is going to be around 200 years from now.
