Another fun day today........ 2 hour wait for the launch this morning, people must be getting there at 4am.... Guess I'll have to find another spot to fish... The river was like a ocean with all the boat wakes, made for some tougher trolling......

I tried a bad game plan, figuring the Wed. night gillnet fishery would thin out the below I-5 school of chinook, and went to Cathlamet to nab one fresh from the ocean. Although conditions were good, light wind, morning flood tide, 2 1/2' viz, only saw 3 fish caught out of 30 boats.

Must move upriver.

Odd they're not hitting them in the lower river... Everything I caught was 33-44 feet of water.... I know springers are supposed to travel shallow but fish finders don't lie...

went out yesterday. total was 4-6 for 5 rods (on throw back). it was a straight up bitch at Davis Bar between the crowds, knuckle heads that don't watch what there doing, and the wind. and to top it off everyone on my boat were fairly inexperienced. .....good times. saw a fair amount caught though.

Total - 7148

Looks like the herd we were fishing on is going over...

Was some pretty easy fishing, but I certainly don't wish the crowds on anyone. "If" I go again, I'm headed down river around the Warrior Rock and areas surrounding to get away from the crowds..... Davis is an absolute nightmare....

Fairly BRUTAL day for us, launched @ the Red Lion dock @ 5:30 AM & fished 4 rods hard for 8 hours.

One perfect high finner that took a chartreuse whole herring behind a spinner blade that went back in & one driveby. Afternoon wind was smoking downstream @ 20-30 MPH & banging CK's sled all over the place. I feel like I hit the gym HARD when I got up this morning !!

Oh, and of course 2500 of our closest friends were going @ it too, saw the net fly maybe 20-30 time all day.

The dead Indian in the last pic helped kill the pain for some of our crew......... doh

So with whats been caught were still about 450000 short, not sure if it will make 470000 but I think were going to hit 280000 which is what its being managed at with the 40% buffer.

We were there all week and thought the same thing when we saw the netters go in Wed. night. We stayed, and they did not have any affect on numbers for Thurs. mornings bite. One benifit though was that there were 1/3 the number of boats out which made for a much calmer drift. Our numbers sucked, but still limited daily for 3 rods. Hot Springer fishn in my book.

So if we are going to make 470k we need a daily average of 9,000 some fish each day to cross bonneville from today till june 1.
