Polishing spoons without leaving scent

Does anyone out there know of a method for polishing spoons to improve the finish without leaving a scent on the spoons that would repel steelhead? Would barkeeper's friend work, Crest toothpaste?
I am looking to polish real silver; gold; 50-50; brass; and copper spoons.
Thanks all,
Jake

The residual scent is inconsequential.
An aggressive steelhead that is stimulated by the distant flash of the spoon has already committed to a willful assault regardless of how bad the thing smells when he gets there.

good point, never dull leaves a nice greasy residue. I have seen similar events on the Columbia during the summer steelhead fishery.

if they're lasting long enough to get dull you're doing it wrong!

Good ole toothpaste worked well for me. I polished up about 55 spoons and spinners this week with toothpaste and terry cloth. The hammered gold spoons were the only ones i couldn't get to polish up that well and the copper is stubborn too. As far as silver, nickel, brass, and anodized spoons, it works grrrrreat. Follow up with a fresh wash of ultra lemon joy and there good as new. Now i only got another 100 to go.

no clear on the back is how some people order blades from me. They like to polish the hell out of them throughout the day. I know some very good fisherman that swear by doing this. I am too lazy, I frefer the clear so I can just chuck them in the tackle box and not worry about tanishing
