I think it wouldn't be so bad if the money stayed in the dfw and was used for the bennifit of those who purchased said licenses, but alas that doesn't seem to be the case.

Probably someone who wanted to sell a bunch of licenses would be my guess. wink

Region Five staff is all about harvest at any cost IMHO. Guy, Bill, and Cindy are all birth control poster children. This year is the reason they pushed for a larger impact on steelhead before.
Thinking ahead they are. Just not representing the population change.

I understand the concern, but technically, you are off by two weeks.

They keep counting them as springers over Bonneville until June 15.... so really there's still about 90 days of counting left.

But your point is well taken. A big run usually comes in early and tails off late, with a big peak (or couple peaks) in the middle. The overall entry curve spans a wider time-frame and reaches higher in overall abundance.

If the faucet of fish doesn't really start flowing in the next week, it ain't gonna happen.

I testified before the Commission of a run size near 250K. I'm glad they didn't buy Staff's dog and pony show, going with a 40% buffer.

I think Doc's right...they count them as springers until 6/15, summers from 6/16 to 7/31, then falls afer 8/1...

Fish on...

I do remember hearing something about that, but they either switched it to June 1st or 15th, it went one way or the other a few years ago...

The upriver, Summer Snake fish are now counted as springers due to thier life cycle being more similar to the springers.

The historic dates March 'till May still shows a perspective of the Spring to Summer chinook.

That's the document I was looking for.......

I can't wait to get the lady out tomorrow after work, she needs her first springer. We should be able to have lines in the water about 30 minutes before low tide, one of my favorite times.....

Hope that first pass pays off.

Weather is shaping up well... I'm itching to see her rod double over...

Then tomorrow we have 4 rods that will be hanging, including the famous "Opher"... Friday, again the same thing, we should be hanging 3-4 rods.

I might have a picture or two this week.... thumbs

Just a FYI, I did some deep digging and found some water temps from 2001 / 2010 at Bonneville Dam.

On 3/15/2001 the water was 5.8C = 42.44 degrees Farenheit...
On 3/15/2010 the water was 6.66C = 44.0 degrees Farenheit...

0 for 1 tonight, the girl has the text book bite... Smack, smack, nothing, zip, zip and rod tip in the water... She grabbed it, set the hook and got 2 head shakes... Bummer.........

Guess the Lower RIVER LIT UP today.... Sounds of it, 470K might not be out of the question.......
