Hey all, not to do one of these R&D things but rather Holy Sh--. A article on Washington Wire Service outlined the governors creation of a panel to address the 3 billion budget shortfall for next year.
Don't care if your a Liberal or Conservative 3 billion is a problem for all of us and fish & wildlife funding is going to be reduced for sure. In fact they are looking at privatizing the ferry system.
Bottom line I don't think even the PC PS vote can get taxes of that size and not sure what then. I know a lot of folks feel the only way you can get the state government under control is cut the money off but brother is that going to hurt. Take a read of the article on WWS and there is a bunch more out there also, as this thing coming at us is not small.
That is why I posted this as I think fish can loose big in this thing the political process known as " widowing & orphaning " is already starting up. Thoughts anyone?

The ferry system used to be private. Don't see how privatization would save much money as the ferries are over-regulated. So they want to bust the IBU?
The State writes way too many regulations. The cell phone law is stupid as there should be only one law for distracted driving.
The Department of Ecology is going after people that have deep pockets.
The State pays women to have babies.
Maybe the UW should cut their football budget. They paid Slick Rick and now they are paying Sarkisian and Holt too much.
I don't think $3B is that much compared to the nation's debt. The State has way more in assets. Just do a little bit of cost cutting.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

OK............keep the WSU creamery open because the Cougar Gold is the only thing Coogers do right. But this continuing charade that WSU has anything to offer academically might as well be ended now. They should also dummy up and realize that the Huskies are THE sports teams of the state of Washington. No more building of stadiums for losers like the Mariners and formerly the Sonics, when that money could have been used to update the gem of the Pacific Northwest........Husky Stadium. Some things are more important than a balanced budget.

In the article I saw it was 3B next year and something even larger the year after that.

Speaking of ferrys did anyone catch the King 5 investigative report on the San Juan Ferry BULLShia*? The chief engineer on that run has a base salary of 81k, he made 180k last year and since 2000 has made over 700k in bs OT, travel time bonus, bonus this bonus that...those numbnuts even had TWO houses on Orcas so ferry workers could crash out whenever needed. After the reporters got to the really dumb ferry head he magically decided they at least could let go of the waterfront Orcas condo as they could probably get by with just one Island home...
Fook, im semi unemployed and more than willing to go on a cost cutting mission as a contract auditor, no OT required and I will save WA millions and do it for far less than 180k per annum;)

Maybe the UW should cut their football budget. They paid Slick Rick and now they are paying Sarkisian and Holt too much.
Why should they cut their salary when UW had one of the most successful academic fundraising efforts of 2009 in the country, "The year wasn’t bad for every college. The University of Washington — No. 12 on the Council for Aid to Education’s list — had its best fundraising year in history, said Walt Dreyfoos, associate vice president of advancement services.
It brought in $324 million in fiscal 2009 — an increase of more than $20 million over 2008." How many boosters witheld their checkbooks until AFTER Tye was fired?? I personaly know of a couple. Success on the gridiron leads directly to success in the classroom! It's really not that hard of a concept is it??? Sark is the one of the highest paid public employees in the state. And being the face of the states largest employer he deserves every single dime. Beat Oregan and give the man a raise!! Brandon Roy just pledged 60 million over his life time. I suppose we should cut the basketball program too eh? As for 3 Billion-Yea right! That's a Lib green light to spend, spend, spend. Don't worry Union's, Gov workers and Tribes you'll get all your money and then I'll just plead poor and threaten to cut prison, police, fire and parks funding until I can raise taxes on smokes and beer since I'm all about working for the working class! Easy being Queen. It'll be at least 6 Billion by this time next year!!! Herald story

Back to the 3 billion short fall. ( anyone seen how far apart the WA shortage and CA shortage is on a per person basis? I don't think they are that far apart ) How you going to get rid of it and it is projected larger 2 years out. We are not counting the fact that Former Supreme Court Justice Phil Talmadge's law firm has two cases up on fuel taxes and legislature siphoning of funds in violation of 18Th amendment. Our present Governor has really been innovative with finances but this one will hurt a bit. Oh yes her staff is working on expanding tribal gas sales to jobbers which would cost many more millions in lost fuel tax revenue.
So D or R solutions that work ........ you can't tax your way or cut your way out of this .......... so how in the hell do you solve this mess the legislature has created? If your looking for leadership from this governor your out of luck, unless it is about tribal $$$ for the election. R's ain't no better as they don't have much to put forward or anyone to do so.
So here we set guys & girls ............... bulls eye on our ( well something / you fill in ) and anyone want to bet the legislature will sound like KK and SW having a debate? After all we have the best government somebodies money can buy.

http://www.autowa.org/events.htmlHere is a link to the website of those suing the gov over her tribal stuff. With our budget hole and shortage of funding for transportation the amount of money here is substantial. I think it is the 3rd item in current events that has the biggest hit if she agrees to allow expanded tribal stuff. Interesting reading.
