Conditions:
Weather- between 72 and 90 degrees. Food - grilled meat, vegetables, hamburgers, potato salad etc. Consumption <4 (typically) beers.
What do you prefer for this type of thing?
I err on the side of lightness, and coldness.

Could go a lot of ways with this one.
I'm partial to Ice cold Corona or Pacifico for this type of scenario.....or a Pilsner Urquell.

In this economic climate: Busch Light
In any other climate: Busch Light
Nothing premium but the price!

any summer seasonal is recommended. or a hef with a lemon wedge. try a sam adams summerfest. I think Brewer's spot on. Even the ladies will like Hefeweisen (Widmer) with some lemon. A summer seasonal would be a very nice touch, as well and Sam does (IMHO) make the best light beer on the planet. For my boys that like big beer I would have a quality IPA or amber ale (Full Sail) on hand.

Homebrew.
Other than that, I'd go with an American hef sans lemon. Fruit does not belong in beer, IMHO.
If the meat is steaks and burgers, I'd go with something with more body than a pilsner. Sierra Nevada Pale, brown porter, or something like that. An IPA will accentuate any spicy food you're having. A pilsner would be better with fish and chicken.
For dessert, make a float using a good milk stout and homemade ice cream. Yumm.

Manny's is awesome but I have never seen it in a bottle.
Labatt Blue is a personal favorite.
You lost me a bit with the less than 4 idea.
49, cds cds, You can stop by the brewery in Georgetown and pick up glass growlers or mini kegs so you can enjoy Manny's at home. http://www.georgetownbeer.com/kegstogo/index.htmlI really enjoy having the brewery in my sales territory.

+1 for Pacifico. A few of my old homies that wintered in San Jose del Cabo used to bring cases back in the spring. They motherhened the bottles as the deposit was almost the same as the contents. After commercial fishing in Alaska, they'd haul the bottles back down to the Baja.
Manny's is owned by a guy that used to be at Mac & Jack's. One of my sons sold him some computer gear a few years ago and Manny gave my son a credit for two kegs of their finest. My ungrateful son supplied the kegs for a his friend's bachelor party and I didn't get any. Rotten kid.

Last week I helped YB-Guy load and unload 700 lb round bales of hay in 100 degree heat. When we finished, he offered me a beer.....a Corona or a Dos Equis.........I took the Dos Equis and said, "I don't often drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis, stay thirsty my friend". Best beer I had in a long time.
But for barbecues............ Stam's Pacifico works fine, but what's wrong with an ice cold Kokanee?

I happen to have a Twilight languishing in some rapidly melting ice, need to get rid of that before the ice melts. I've been meaning to ask her about that. Why is it she's never brought beer on my boat? You'll have to share the secret.

This thread has only taught me that there is a reason the beer aisle is so big.
In regards to the <4 portion of the OP, I'm figuring the average after work (M-Th) type of BBQ. These are usually wrapping up by 8pm and so <4 is pretty accurate because you will already be full from the food.
I was in Cabo a few weeks ago. The hotel we were at had XX and Tecate light. Every day they would refill the mini fridge in your room with more XX if you drank any.
There were some points, where I thought my blood may have been a lean mix of 50% XX and hemoglobins. I tell ya, it ain't bad in hot weather. Buckets of Pacificos and Coronas were great as well when in town, but I am a simple man.
I had some Honeymoon last weekend, and I didn't really like it that much. Regular Blue Moon tastes better to me.

what a bunch of F#cking beer snobs... There is a beer for every occasion: -A good Fruit beer will get you into a girls pants before any other... but only when you show her a little respect and drink what she does... -The quick buzz of an IPA is great for hanging with the boys and shooting the sh!t -A Cellar temp Stout is hard to beat on a cold winter night... or for after dessert instead of coffee... -A fine Porter is like a good red wine... complex flavors to compliment the food... -There is a reason that pilsners and lagers are brewed in winter... So they are ready for the hot summer nights on the boat when you need to maintain a buzz but not get F'd up like you do with Ales... -Mexican beer is a great workday lunch beer... have a few and go back to the office with a little buzz and no beer breath or beer burps... Back to the original question what is best for a bbq... I think chuck is the only one that got it right... Free and Cold when should I show up?

For some reason KK's ass seems to be somewhat fire proof. I have tried........I failed. Dan keeps threatning, but has yet to keep the fire burning. In time.

I see no reason to set somebody on fire for being a asshole. Otherwise, I'd be setting myself on fire.
