Tye has the shaits today. A little detective work revealed he's been eating lots of both ripe and unripe blueberries off my bushes. So far he has eaten horse poop, grass, a very dead frog, a butterfly, a bee, lettuce, and a variety of other treasures. The only thing he has ever spit out was an onion, but he tasted it three times before giving up on it. Last week he herked up a bone about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

Cedar likes chicken, turkey, and pheasant poop, along with kitty almond roca.
Let him lick your face. I dare you.

Hey Dave, Sounds like Tye has a healthy appetite... Do you think Tye would eat clams, oysters and geoducks?

Mine is currently pluged up on rocks.... again...
Last time cost me almost $2k in surgery. Not really in a position to keep doing that.
Hope they (the rocks) pass...

My sister's lab ate some rope. Needed some assistance on the other end. At least there was something solid to hold onto.

Dogs LOVE sh!t. My buddy and his dad were duck hunting way down on the wasteway several years ago. As they were getting ready to pack up, my buddy had to head back into the bushes to take care of number 2. Afterwards, as they continued packing their gear, the dog disappeared into the brush for a while. A few minutes later, out comes the dog, walking real slow and looking pretty green. They had a pretty good idea of what happened, and a quick trip back to where my buddy was earlier confirmed what the dog had eaten. Disgusted, they get all the decoys and the rest of the gear loaded into the boat, and just as they begin motoring back up, the dog throws up....in the boat. And of course nothing to hose the boat out with down there. Said it was the longest boat ride ever. Lesson learned. If for any other reason then it being disgusting to see...save yourself AND your dog a lot of grief and make sure your man poo pile is buried well.

Obviously, if you can, keep an eye on them enough to know when they are getting into stuff and keep all potential items in the house out of range. Bones scare me the most because dogs find them in a hurry and they are readily available in most camping settings. My friends just told me a story of their friend's dog that was a panty-eater. 4 different surgeries to remove panties. The 5th time killed the dog. You'd think the dog (or at least the owners!) would have learned. Worst thing my old dog ate was a full bar of ivory soap (and surrounding items) that was along the bank of the Nooksack River. Puked it up in the back of the car on the way home and I nearly drove off the road attempting to hold down my vomit from the smell. The new dog has a thing with socks. I'm having to be really careful.

A good cure for the squirts is 100% canned pumpkin. A couple spoonfuls a day will help get rid of the problem.

I've heard of vets prescribing it for constipation, not for the squirts..........wife got tired of neighbor's dogs crappin in her roses, stuck a can-o-pumpkin out there, and the next day the neighbor was hosing off their bed quilts in the yard... So, maybe squirtin more is the solution for the squirts

Oddly enough my lab doesn't eat too much odd stuff.... He know's he'll get an ass whooping of he does... Last year though we were up in the hills scouting elk and I got a flat tire. While changing the tire God started calling and I had to bust for the brush for #2... After getting back and working on getting the tire changed I noticed my dog was not around.... I hollared at him and he came from where the cornback rattler was, almost looked like he'd been bit.... He knew he had an ass whooping coming.... A few more kicks and he would have been in china.... must run in the family! she can't seem to choke mine down too much, but she tries to hide lindsey's tiny socks all the way in her mouth, as if we don't know what's up. whenever she come a runnin' from the bedrooms, she's got a sock working. thankfully, she always heads to the same spot to munch on them. willy

My golden love the kitty roca. Even seen him go after his roca....
On the flip side he doesn't chew anything or eat things he shouldn't. Don't know what to think about all of the pinecones he has eaten.
He loves brocolli, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, corn, avacodo...easier to list the thing he doesn't like.......Carrots, califlower.......
Pumpkin indeed gives them the runs..

Buddies lab ate over a foot of a 4' floresent light tube and one of the end caps . He figured it out when he found the chewed up end cap in a turd full of broken glass. The dog never missed a beat.

My lab pulled the wiring harness out of my boat trailer last winter. He thought the pig tail was a pull toy. Cheers! SD

My two labs pretty much stay out of stuff. I do think it has to do with the training though. I watch my dogs pretty close and if they are in the same spot for more than a few seconds I pay close attention. As soon as their head goes down (I assume they're about to eat whatever it is they were smelling) I give a firm yell of "NO!" It works.
As for the dead salmon thing in fall when walking the rivers. I watch them real close. They get obsessed with the rotten fish so I circle around and wait for that second when they are about to do the lay down and roll in it thing. As soon as they start I give the "NO" shout and smack 'em on the ass at the same time. The first dog learned to stay away from them after the initial encounter with my hand and my current lab learned it after a good swat on the 2nd try. This was when they were under 6 months old and I've never had to do it again. Now, if they are in the same spot for more than a few seconds, all I have to do is say no and they move on.
It takes some watching but is easy to do after the cast while the fly is swinging thru the run. Fish will give me a tug and then I pay attention to that.

Sage my yellow lab ate a monster tule egg skein last week. It was a 2lbs skein. Got the fish put away and went to grab the eggs and was down a skein. Wasn't sure if sage or chinook at the eggs, tracked down sage to see eggs all over his face and him lickin his chops. Emergency vet said get him in right away so 300 bucks later he was fine and I was down some very needed eggs and a little lighter in the wallet.

Went outside to the kennel the other day and my Chocalate had puked up a plastic grocery bag. Glad he did not get plugged up from that.
Last night my black lab while playing with frisbee toy knocked her head good on my boat trailer ,she was very out of it for a few minutes her back legs not working real well. I was a bit worried and thinking we were going to the emerg. vet but she came out of it rather quickly with no ill effects so far other than a small knot and cut on the top of her head.
