Dropped my ballot off this morning, voted for 1 incumbant, said goodbye to everybody else. Actually voted for a mix of D's and R's, pretty much evenly. You can thank me later.

So far, this (Dogfish, Chuck, and possibly Lead Bouncer) makes at least two more people than I thought were actually going to follow through with this. No question, we are dealing with some seriously corrupt, arrogant assholes here, so the would-be replacements likely aren't much better in nature than the incumbents, but this would definitely give them something to think about before voting against the will of their constituents.

Now we just have to hope enough others are sufficiently pissed (and not entirely brainwashed into believing they need to hold the party line) so that the message can be sent, loud and clear. Of course, the Presidential election of 2000 taught us that actual votes don't necessarily determine the outcome....

Here's to some positive thinking and taking action the only way we can.

When reality sets in we'll see the same old same old in office. This is Washington. Nothing will change. 2 years from now our Queen will get re-elected and we can watch things stay the same. Pretty pathetic.

Republicans would have had a good chance with a candidate other than Rossi. Murray's support has been wearing thin; takes someone like Rossi to boost it back up. I suppose she'll wait to thank him later.

It's unfortunate that none of the really interesting candidates like Mike the Mover and Goodspaceguy ever get very far. I kinda' gave up on alternative partys like thee OWL party in 1976, altho I loved and still love their campaign slogan: "throw the rascals out!"

Atilla the Hun could beat Rossi...I guess he and his handlers haven't been kicked in the sack enough yet...oh, well, it's coming again soon.

Don't know for sure yet, but it looks like our new 22nd Dist. rep is going to be the liberal most like his predecessor. We have lots of Dems in office around here whose most important contribution is displacing space that might have otherwise been taken up with RWWJ Republicans. I still gotta' think that an Evans style R could win in a lot of districts in WA. But no, the only Rs running anymore are all anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, anti-anything a Dem is for, anti-taxes, anti-assisted suicide, anti-drug legalization, anti-medical marijuana, anti-social welfare and social programs, BUT for corporate welfare, except possibly professional basketball. Can't recall if any of them are for anything else at all. Well except maybe Legislator's salary and per diem.

Over in GH County, we actually have some moderate democrats. Actually some pretty darned good people who do not vote the straight party line, which is why they get elected.

I just wish there were more moderates on both sides.

Did you know that the 2 largest government expansions in U.S. history happened under Reagan and GWB?

Both of these presidents as you know were Republican... and were supported wholeheartedly by conservatives.

On the positive side of the TARP Money issue. A good amount has been paid back from a number of banks, as holding the money came with burdensome regulation and healthy banks got rid of that liability.

The American tax payer earned a rate of 5% on that portion of that investment. The cost of TARP money goes up significantly after a specific period of time, so you will see banks who have improved somewhat paying off that obligation in the near future.

Some boutique banks, and some hefty regionals will be gone. Got a weak capital ratio? That dot on your chest is a laser sight.

While a bank's Texas ratio is a solid indicator of risk of failure, a better index would be to include their 30-90 past due notes, as that is their pipeline of crap about to blow up. Check that out before investing in any IPO's or special placements of stock.

The use of those funds was a good investment in part of the portfolio, but in others, not so much. Think of it as a mutual fund.
