Just thought I would start this in case some of us wanted to track things on a daily bases. From my view since this little rain things are flat. Got a jack yesterday but not much jumping. What are moving though appear to be at a slow steady idle with lock jaw. No big rush just putting around moving up. The tides get better soon so things should pick up. One thing I can say though is the Chinook and Coho so far are big, just plain bigger than normal.

Neighbor went out of Westport yesterday and ran aways and it a massive bait area, limited on Coho in a couple hours ( 6 fish ) and two Coho went nearly 20 lbs. Lots of Coho just outside the harbor for sure but where they are heading I don't know. Hopefully they will head into the bay!

Thats about all my one brain cell figured out about these tight lipped things. rolleyes

It has been brutal for me. Small amounts of moving fish, unsettled weather/water levels, and the river color is off now.

Had about an hour today where we had a decent sized pod of fish come by. I got lucky with a 10# hen on a rvrfshr/hooch. That was it. Saw another dead one on a stringer.

Team eyeFISH logged 160 rod hours over the past 4 days with little to show for it. TOUGH beyond belief!

Damon Pt - Buoy 13 area Saturday without a sniff. Marked zero fish and only saw one fish taken, by a seal, of course.

Is Damon Point from the beach, open to salmon fishing?

Above the bridge was deader than dead today. Everyone cleared out before I even got down there around 11:00. Fished until high slack and start of out going and not a single sign of fish and no bites. Wind was blowing the right way finaly so hopefuly that will get the fish moving in here. Figure it will be about 7-10 days and the fishing should get hot if we don't get gully washed and the fish scream upriver.

Water was just getting a green tint to it but still really clear.

4 days of fishing......3 with pardner...

1 small jack.....middle of tide, released

2 sea run cutt's.....released

1 Silver in fast water.....jumped once, broke leader

1 small King, estimate 8-10 pounds, released.....

My concern, not seeing fish on the move......seeing a few seals.

Oh, I'm fishing my "normal spots"........between Monty and Fuller Bridge

River had color, Sunday...........

I'm another "east wind hater"......

East wind first three days did NOT help matters at all.

SW wind definitely helped to blow some fish into the bay, but they had other things on their mind than sightseeing.... ZERO interest in our spread of bling.

Need a bit of dry weather to slow 'em down and take the time to smell the roses... or at least the sardine oil.

Fished Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and a couple hours Sun. 1 big king released, 1 nice silver lost after a few headshakes. That's it. My thoughts are that what few fish are around (Fuller area) are moving through without a thought of holding up. Water has very little visibility so you'd have to hit em right on the snout to get one to go.

Good news is that it can only get better.

Just our little Ry guy and possibly another dad and his son. Hunter has a X-country race in Boise. If you hear shots, it's just us. I'll bring the ML in case there is a suicidal deer or bear.

Sun-Tuesday I'll be hunting mule deer, then back home for some fishing and deer hunting if I don't connectc on a muley.

The other dad and his kid are in....licenses secured.
I'm due though I know this is B's day.
Put in a long day on the Skagit Saturday and the silvers were not cooperative. Buddy got a 30lb king (released) and a super bright native summerrun. That was cool.
Friday Sue and I got to see a 300# bear swim down from the boat launch above the Cascade towards us. He was coming right down the middle of the river. He eddied out a couple of hundred yards above us and took some aggression out on a 30 yard high tree. That thing was shaking. Head so big you couldn't make out his ears.
Spoke with a local at the steelhead park who said "bears? crap they are everywhere this year...whatever...you going to play bingo or what?

9/20/2010....

Another wasted morning.....fished 1.5 of out go, 45 minutes of slack and incoming......No fish, no take downs......didn't see much on the move.

Ran to the "fast water", for some jack fishing.....1 bite, 1 jack...gave to "another old timer".

Water color, didn't look good......but I've sure caught them in water worse than this.

2 people, 1 jack..........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 4+ hours of fishing....doesn't speak well for Chehalis fish....maybe the salmon all took a left and headed up the Wynoochee....probably having a great time in a "protected environment".......maybe tomorrow?????????????
