Who wants to lay down a buck or two on betting any snowfall this year completely cripples Seattle?

McGinn's a bigger dumbfvck than Nickels ever was. Who wants to take the side of Seattle's public works and wager that the plow trucks will actually plow instead of just dropping sand on top of frozen slush?

My bet? The major and I mean only the major transit lines will be cleared, the rest of the city will be frozen solid.

I really don't care if snow cripples Seattle this year.
I'll just stay home and drink. As far as the mayor, Nickels and McGinn are actually the same person.
My only hope for this winter is that a snow plow comes by and totally douches Jim Foreman as he is reporting on "Winter Blast 2010".

I live in the most crunchy part of Seattle. Nice thing about the snow and ice is nobody drives. If you have a truck* you are fine (and alone on the road).
Bring it.
* In this case a truck being a soccer mom truck.
Long wheel base drives just fine in the snow and crap though.

I suspect there will be a day when it snows 1.5 inches, and the entire region from Everett to Tacoma will become a gigantic parking lot, just like it does every time it snows...and while I think that Public Works has a long way to go to take care of snow when it happens, I mostly blame it on all the numbskulls around here who have this bad combination of features...

1. Don't know how to drive in the rain, much less the snow...and

2. Think that because they bought an SUV, they don't have to know how to drive in rain or snow, their car will do it for them.

Fish on...

Nothing like watching some idiot whiteknuckled sliding backwards down a hill at twenty MPH with the tires spinning 120 in the other direction. Makes me laugh everytime(as long as I can get out the way)

"My bet? The major and I mean only the major transit lines will be cleared, the rest of the city will be frozen solid."
Isn't this what they already said is all they would be doing? pretty safe spot there Irie cool

I'll see that bet, and raise ya that we get hammered by snow on several occassions, and they can't even keep the major's clear enough to keep traffic and commerce moving. Complaints will flow because the side streets are left untouched and after days of complaints the Mayor will be forced to re-evaluate the new plan, then start plowing all the side streets too, starting with his, of course.

Out here in the desolate lands of Woodinville, we always seems to get a x4 magnification of any bad weather the rest of the region gets. Something about being in the eastern side of the convergence zone I think. During the snows of 08, we had 26" at the height of it the day after Christmas, and only those with good 4WD and AWD made it out of the driveway for a week.

I say bring it on this year.... we have 2 AWD vehicles, including a new Outback with new Conti ExtremeContact DSW tires put on yesterday ( they're really nice, highly recommended btw!)

.....& On an uncharacteristicly fishy note for the dark side, the fishing is usually great when it snows and you have the river to yourself, too.

bring it!

My bet is the stores will be packed with panicked shoppers Saturday who are worried about being snowed in for a day and starving to death.

As far as the roads it doesn't matter what they do as the idiots who shouldn't be out will be out and F things up.

I like to wait out the idiot attrition and then go out and have fun in 4X4.

I'll bet that it'll either snow or it won't. And, if it does, it does.... if it doesn't, it doesn't. The media has already forecast that it might possibly snow. Really?

Who gives a flying F?

An anchor on King 5 is a friend of mine. She says that all they have to do is mention the word snow and ratings double.

That's the worst thing.

I spent last December in Washington D.C.

They had a blizzard--a real one--dump almost 3 feet in 48 hours.

They knew how to handle it. Things were running smoothly after a day or so.
If that happened here they'd declare a state of emergency and everyone would panic.

Driving in snow is like launching a boat, lots of laughs to be had for sure. But, we are all apt to have our dumb arse moment doing both.

Snowing here as I write.

38 degrees and rain. 3 months of it. We will get a few days of snow, and I'll get to work on time every day, with a 30 mile drive.

I look forward to seeing many "JAM FACTOR 10's" this year if Seattle does get snow.

Ok, an actual bet.

I will put my money on Dec 19th. 4" of snow on the deck (in seattle) by 0800 hrs. Community Transit will be shut down as well as Metro Transit. I-5 will be a parking lot by 1030hrs along with I 405. Snow will continue to "cripple" Seattle for the rest of Dec and Jan. On Feb 1, the mayor will have fired Peter Hahn.
