Considering he strung himself up with his son in the next room, he's a bigger coward and loser than his father. He could have had some pre-existing mental health issues. 5 years ago my younger brother went out into the woods and hung himself. I think that they can get so deep in depression that they can't process how they hurt those left behind.

Sorry about that DD...sad stuff.
I can't judge whether someone was being cowardly or was so overwhelmingly depressed that they couldn't think rationally even a little...whichever it is that leads to suicide...that'll have to be between them and whatever higher power they do or do not believe in.
Obviously the fallout from Madoff's schemes is far reaching, and still going...and I sincerely doubt that his son is the first suicide that can be traced back to his dastardly deeds. MutherFocker should be charged with the deaths of those types of folks, too, since he caused them almost as directly as if he had hung them himself.
