Guess a good one just dropped down near Salem...

Always been my dream to be a storm chaser. Wish there was more lead time on storms like that, would love to have seen it...

You don't want to see it Keith.
I grew up in the midwest. When the wind died, the sky turned green and the sirens started it was down to the basement.
We had one run up a creek about a block from my house. Crazy chit.

I just saw that on the news...crazy!

A three minute long storm here at my house last night around 1am had thunder, lightning, high winds, and hail...and when the three minutes were up there were two trees down in the yard, one that bounced off the roof of my house, and about an inch and a half of hail on the ground...all in just a few minutes.

Fish on...

Honestly, I'm obsessed with violent weather and especially tornados. Storm Chasers is my favorite series on TV. I'd miss about anything to watch it.

It's best we don't live close to the areas you are speaking of, I'm certain I'd already be 6 feet under....

That's nuts Todd! That one that hit the Vancouver area about 3 years ago passed about 6 blocks from my house. Although I was working that day, when I got home that night there was still 18" of hail along the side of my house where it had bounced off the roof and onto my side walk. I was bummed I didn't get to see that storm either...

Although I've lived here my entire life most of my relatives lived in Minnesota so growing up we made an annual summer or winter trip.

I rode out this one in the basement while my dad and his brother were outside watching it. Nothing like hearing that rush coming your way and then fading out. We drove around afterwards looking at the destruction.

Several years later I watched another one hit the farm next to my grandpas farm.

Far out! rare but not unheard of around here. several years ago I witnessed an enormous funnel cloud outside of Sandy Oregon. never touch ground but pretty ominous nonetheless.

wasn't there one that hit a boat house in Vancouver a few years back?

I guess there's a water spout near pacific city right now.... Anyone near Pacific City better hit cover looking at the current radar, that's one hell of a storm moving through! I wouldn't doubt it spawns a nader too!

It's not the tornado that kills you--

-- it's the flying tree with the 2x4 full of nails shoved through it that kills ya.

I was working in the projected path of this thing today.
First we had an asbestos evacuation then 1/2 hour later we had the tornado evacuation.
We were well evacuated grin

Watched a big cedar take out my fence Just after 1 am. Breezy to all hell breaking loose to not bad at all in less than 10 mins. Spooky.

3 years in Indiana and 3 in Nebraska showed me what real storms were. Gets wendy. then the rain and huge hail stones then drops to dead calm with an eary electric blue color in the sky and ya just know its close.

They are calling it a F2 right now, but judging from the pics of masonry buildings destroyed, and up rooted oak trees that looked over 4ft in diameter, it might go higher.

Last Thursday morning I left work around 7:30 or so. Looking E-SE the sky looked pretty wierd then I pass around the corner of the bldg and look wast. Wall cloud moving my way at about 40 miles an hour. Meant to add a post here to see if anyone was out at Possesion or on the Sky. I drove out of its path but not 10 minutes later the Emergency Broadcast Network cut in to the morning radio show with a "severe storm alert." Winds to 70 mph, severe lightning and heavy rains. First time I've ever heard the EBN kick in for a real storm. Yikes.

40 years in W. Wa. and that was the first wall cloud I've ever seen.

Left Texas at about 3 and still have nightmares about tornadoes. I'll be standing there fishing a hog line when I look up and no one is around anymore. Look behind me and there is an F5 bearing down on me. Run, run, run, wake up shocked

I asked my folks about it once. My Mom told me we where heading to a Texas A&M game one Saturday with about 3 or 4 tornadoes on the ground on both sides of the road. My Mom freaked but my old man wasn't going to miss a good football game smile

Seeing a lot more storm clouds around here the last few years. Saw a couple of storm clouds up to around 50K feet over the mountians this past spring. Work with folks from the midwest and one said he saw a tornado forming over Lk. Wa. but it didn't touch down. News reports confirmed this.

With global warming I think Wa. status as the only state in the lower 48 to never have a tornado caused fatality is nearing an end frown

And it's Dec?? Could be a wild spring.

You might want to check with someone with a few more summers under their belt.

To me, there's no chance that was a F2... I'm calling EF3 with what I've seen with all the destruction. You actually see the photo of the tornado it's self! Impressive to say the least.....
