oh man. My buddy's dad had two of them and they came out back to back. He said other than the death of a loved one or the sight of his newborn child, it's the only thing that will make a grown man cry. He saved them and showed us.

Honestly, seeing patients with them pretty often, one told me to drink lots of water and just lightly jump up and down when the pain is bad, coming down hard on your heels. This allows the hydraulic force of the water to push the stone down. The pain is backed up urine swelling urethra. When I had one I tried it and it worked very well. http://ezinearticles.com/?Natural-Kidney-Stone-Removal&id=1119649

I've passed 2, first was in 2007, Friday afternoon I started feeling pain in my back that wasn't bad at 1st, by about 6pm I was rolling around on the floor in agony and my wife insisted on a trip to the ER. Sat in the ER for almost 2 hours before I finally got to see a doc who diagnosed the stone and said there was another 1 in the other kidney. After getting some really good pain meds I went home and decided not to cancel a Kalama trip I had planned for the following morning. I was fine and even caught a springer out of the 1st hole, about noon things went to hell, the pain med made me sick so not only was I in pain but I was puking my guts out and this is at the Beginners Hole, still had to row down to Modrow which sucked big time. That stone took me 8 days to pass, some days were pain free, others, not so much. On the 6th day I had to fly to Alaska, passed the stone on the morning of the 8th day, right before my guests got on the boat, huge relief. Second stone was a year ago and I was woke up about 2 in the morning and knew exactly what it was, rolled around on the living room floor in agony for 3 hours then passed that stone. The 2nd stone hurt worse but only lasted 3 hours, If I ever have another 1 I want the 3 hour stone. Good luck!

I haven't been fortunate to deal with kidney stones yet. If it's anything like having a full blown gallbladder attack I think I'd rather jump off a 20ft bridge with nothing but rocks at the bottom. I can't even begin to describe the pain and wouldn't even wish it on my worst enemy... Well maybe... Get through it Brewer, time is your worst enemy! Keith

I had good insurance and a 4mm stone, doc sent me home with pain meds, said if it was either 4.5 or 5 mm, don't remember which, they could zap it, until then, suck it up and be a man, 8 days later I passed it, Son of a .............!

I'm a stone factory. I've passed eight and had five large ones blown up via three lithotipsy procedure. The last lithotripsy was two weeks ago. I felt like I was pissing spawning gravel afterward. By far the most painful physical ailment I've gone through.

Brought me to the ground like I got punched when it hit. The morphine was pretty fun. you stole my post. Except I got the joy of laying in the ER puking on the floor for a half hour before they took me in back to give me the shot....almost wish I could get another one just because it felt sooooo good when it quit hurting. awesome Sounds similar to my first kidney stone ER visit. I just wish the nurse had gotten the shot into my arm on the first attempt, not her own hand. I guess I shouldn't complain. My urologist said she removed 20+mm stone surgically from a guy a few years ago. Damn boulder.

One key thing is to drink plenty of fluids so that the ureters, and eventually the urethra, can fill frequently to their maximum diameter which is, hopefully, bigger than the stone, and allows the stone to float down the pipe.
Unfortunately, that means lots of bumping and scraping while floating, which is kinda like riding down the river in my boat.
The fact that Brewer is feeling the stone move is a good sign so far. And he's not the first or last person to self medicate with beer. Dr. Rick, that sounds like a semi endorsement of beer to relieve pain. The only medication I have had that made me want it again was Verced (sp?). Everything else made me feel like crap. I had back surgery last May. I had them take me off the pain meds a few hours after waking up, as the meds made me feel so bad. The next day I got out (early because I was off the pain meds) and after the drive from Kirkland to Post Falls I got in my chair, looked at the bottle full of pain meds and told my wife to throw them away and get me a beer. A few kokanees and I was much better. Stick with the plan Brewer. Sounds like your strategy is working. I have not experienced the pleasure of a kidney stone yet, but I have seen others, so I hope your just drinking beer for fun soon.

Don't go on a 7 day fishing bender in Yakutat Alaska, get up at 1:30 AM every morning to floss sockeye and get your kings on spinners by 8:00 am, go back to the house and eat a poptart, drink a coffee, fillet and package salmon then hook up the salt boat for halibut, launch by noon, cruise out fish until 5 or 6PM, cruise back in, put boat on trailer, go back to house, clean boat, fillet and package halibut, stuff down a dinner, crash on the couch between 9:00 and 11:00 pm then get back up at 1:30am and repeat every day of the trip .....I probably drank a quart of water (and even less beer) the whole time I was up there, and I was the only one to not bag out on any portion of any day.....
go hard, or .....go home.
Deal with the stones afterwards. All man..............half animal.

my wife tried to feed me some bull yesturday. saying that the reason i have a kidney stone is because of alchohol.... i looked at her with a straight face and said. "you better get me another 16 ounce (keystone)before the achohol gives you a black eye"... Don't get her p!ssed off now. You might want to try the aforementioned "suction option".

I too am a fetal position club member. Lasted one night and passed it with the help of "Dilaudid" , great stuff and I have had lots of different types.4.5 mm and I bow to those that have gone bigger.Rolling that big a ball down the gutter is one memory you won't forget soon...
Changed the diet and lost the diet pepsi, now I drink more water and lots more beer!
Good luck with the beer therapy!

All kidding aside, I just Googled up some "home remedies" but there really wasn't anything that looked useful. There was one thing that stood out....possible permanent kidney damage if not addressed. http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com/remedy/Kidney-Stones.htmlMaybe a quick trip to the SWMC ER ?

good news!!! just had my 1st drop to the floor... yes hurts like hell! i'll rate the discomfort a 7 on my chart. my youngest son just stared at my halibut on the deck impersonation. after i stopped flopping around he asked if he could play on the playstation? cripes! Another idea.... Get the kids involved and have them decorate you like a pinata. Then have them whack the sh!t out of you.... Start with Nerf bats, then fists -> rubber hoses -> broomsticks -> and then chunks of rebar if necessary. The kids will love it. Should help pass the stone.

Just keep jumping until the pain subsides. Keep drinking water, and when the pain starts to increase, start jumping again. Gravity and water are your friends.
When the stone comes out it will look like a small piece of gravel, nothing special even though it feels like a shards of glass

Can't add much to this discussion, Brewer, since I've never had a kidney stone of my own. Once, a student of mine brought his mother's kidney stones into the classroom for a little "show and tell" action. My principal was a "born again" rockhounder, complete with homemade bolo ties and massive stone and silver belt buckles. He had a standing offer to identify any rocks we would bring to him, so I took the kidney stones to him...just to see how good he was. He hemmed and hawed, held them up to the light, mumbled something about greenstones, and after a contemplative moment asked, "Where'd they come from?" Lucky for me, he had a good sense of humor. Here's some music to help get you/your stone moving. It'll sound pretty good after the tenth or twelveth Keystone. Have a safe passage! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtMPlY3duz4&feature=related

Just had a Tricerahops Double IPA from Ninkasi Brewing Company. Pretty good stuff. If you make it I'll buy you one.

Hey Bait Dunker.....while I was repying to your post about Marsh it got deleted....not sure if a mod did it or you did it. So I'll cut n paste on the reply before yours....
I'm not even a big Marsha fan and yet with that last comment you just went on ignor for me. I only have two people on ignor.....Irie and you. Blades would be on it but he doesn't post anymore. Go [censored] yourself. I'm hurt. I never post anything negative, and am a pillar of kindness and optimism on this otherwise insensitive and callous BBS.

How's this for a coinky-dink: Sol just stopped by and announced he had a CAT scan showing a 6.4 mm diameter stone trying to head down his 3 mm ID piss tube And it's still "hangin out"

well i'm trying to get in to see my doc. i've drank enough water to set a new personal high water mark. i'm really doudting this is really a KS. still very painfull but no severe pain way lower in the plumbing area. i'm also noticing alot of bruising too! steve e you might be onto something. This is good on two counts.... 1. We are seeking professional help. 2. Having a new, personal high water mark will allow you greater access on your favorite streams Be sure to have this tattooed and notarized.

still ailing, the pain is much lower now. hoping this gravel falls out soon. just being able to sit and type at a computer during the "attack" excludes you from the kidney stone club Clue for bait eater: Bragging about a woman having a bigger johnson than you is no way to go through life. two things here- lady gaga has a bigger penis than any of us brewer is falling down drunk all the time, so pain is not an issue for him. Got $13.99 seagrams 7 down here in the 1.75l bottle - feeling the pain now?

Got word from Brewer. It's not KS's, the Doc doesn't know what's wrong. I'm sure he'll add more.
Get well Bro.

Anyone tired of hearing about these stones yet? Holy crap, I know that I have had my limit! Brewer, move onto a new diagnosis... I've perused through all of your test results, and they all exhibit prime physical health; healthy as a horse, which Dr. Rick will appreciate. I hope you get well soon. ~THE PANTS
