Dave, put the collar on quite awhile b4 you set him up. You don't want him to assosciate the collar with getting in trouble right away. .. he will figure it out soon enough. Good luck !

Two labs grace our house. The oldest is now almost six. He grew up and became a good dog seemingly on the day he turned three. Up to that point he thought 'Gawd' was his middle name. The younger lab, a girl, is almost three. Hope she goes through the same transformation as the older one did. Of all the labs I've owned, most seem to calm noticeably about age three with only occasional fits of insanity afterwards. Labs simply wouldn't exist if they weren't such lovable beasts. Every time they eat something I just remind myself it'll be funny some day.

Wow... Some GREAT stories. Aaron's wins top prize. DANG sorry to hear that one!!!! My "pup" Harley is a little over a year old now. If it's not nailed down, he has to chew on it. Immediately after he's let out of his kennel, he grabs the nearest thing to chew on it. Fortunately, I've only "donated" a broom, paint bucket, noumerous plastic objects and the occasional piece of wood. He got ahold of a dish rag from somewhere and it didn't agree with his innards. Fortunetely, he got it out of one end so a $$$$ visit to the vet was avoided. My old shorthair had different tastes. He took a liking to the now ex-wife's panties Here's Harley with his training dummy. Oh yeah..... he chewed it into little pieces

Cedar's been really kind to everything in our house, except the cherry floor. Oh well. It only takes a two days to install 1,000 SF of wood floor, and $4-5,000.
I tell the wife that the scratches give the house a "lived in" look. We'll have to test that "Bella Wood" 50 year finish guarantee in a year or so.

I think Cedar's kennel is a bit more dog proof than the human house.

This thread should be in the "best of Posts". I have read some funny stuff on here but this one takes the cake.
Was sorry to hear of Browndog's bad day but sounds like he is making a fast recovery. I know I would be out there hunting something.
And I thought I had it bad when my last dog Mac, would dig out of the backyard once in awhile.
I am new to duck hunting and was just beginning to entertain the thought of getting a lab, Thanks for the heads up before I did that!

Do it. Tye is the best thing that has happened in our family in years - and the worst. Yeah, he's a real pain in the arse, but he has caused more smiles and laughs than I can count. That's well worth a few hats, socks, important documents, pieces of furniture, toys, purses, filched food, cell phones, cameras, - hey maybe it's not such a good idea. (;-) . . .
