Has anybody been there? Besides fishing what is there to do for the kids? The wives? I'm looking to go over in the end of June and thought about staying there. Thanks.

I'm going over to Conconully this next week, staying at Shady Pines Resort. I'll pass along any useful info I come across.

They are both sponsors on this site. You can access the web pages from the Conconully lake and reservoir reports section. Tell em you saw them on our site! laugh

We stayed at Liar's Cove last Labor Day. Comfortable cabins, quiet, and friendly owner/managers. Lots of deer and quail in the resort area every morning and evening. The reservoir was unbelievably low last year. The WDFW was so worried about winter fish kill that they kept the lake open for fishing through the winter. I don't know if the water level has come up this spring. We limited daily from the shore, but all the fish were pan sized hatchery planters. Those using boats caught a few bigger fish. There are many smallmouth in the lake, and we saw them caught on pop gear, trolled flatfish, and still fished powerbait. There isn't that much to do for nonfishing spouses and kids in Conconully. It's only a 15-20 minute run down to Omak, or Okanogan, though. Liar's Cove has a website with pictures of their facilities. You can contact them via email, too.

Make sure you check with them on the water level before you go, had a buddy fish the upper lake at the opener and he said it was way down. Shady pines has some great little cabins and RV spots right on the lake. There is a state park there also. Lots of old logging roads to explore and a trip up to fish lake can be alot of fun and some real good fishing.

We will be visiting Liar's Cove for the first time this Memorial Day.
Anyone have tips on what to use for the smallmouth up there? Jigs, Grubs, Sluggos, Plastics, location etc? Any and all help is MUCH appreciated.

Just returned from three days at Conconully. Fishing is pretty good, although we didn't manage any large ones. We trolled exclusively (wooly buggers, wedding rings, etc.)with brass blade/green beads being most productive. Trolling flies less productive but more fun with the smaller fish. Most fish are in the 10 to 12 inch range with occaisional smaller fish. Saw two fish in the 20" range, however both caught by still fishers. The lakes are truly low, by my eye perhaps half-pool although I heard on the radio from Spokane that they are one third full. Boats can be lauched with a bit of effort. If you don't have a 4x4, pay a resort operator to do it for you. Beautiful area, good fishing, nice folks who are in a bit of squeeze. Everbody quit carping and go fishing!
