In a further statement, the White House said Obama had requested Hawaii's state department of health to make an exception to allow the legal release of the certificate, and that it granted an exemption in part "because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting".

So if something as trival as rec soccer won't let you in without one, all future Presidents should have to provide one. Should have put the damn thing out there 3 years ago and been done with it.

Just watched two commentators on Fox ripping into Donald Trump, the TeaBaggers, the 50% of Republicans who claim to believe Obama wasn't born here...

This whole thing was settled for the most part in '08 when Obama showed his certificate of live birth.
With only 38% of the people polled saying they are absolutely certain, without a shadow of doubt, Obama was born in this country.

I think it was politically expedient for the whack jobs to keep harping on it forever...and they still will.
Why? The evidence is right here on this very website...dipshits will continue to believe that he was born in Kenya, no matter who says what, and catering to those dipshits will earn them votes...at least in the primaries.
When they have to go national, however, this will drag their pathetic asses down, just like the TeaBaggers will.
If I were Obama I'd have never given them anything...let the dipshits continue to act like...well, dipshits. Every time a birther opens his mouth he gains two votes in the primaries, and loses seven IQ points.
Before long they'll all be sporting IQ's of 56 or 57...just like most of their supporters.

You can say that all you want...but when we're talking about actual racism, it's not against the rules to call it that.
There are lots of things that I wish were better, and some of them I lay right at Obama's feet...but that being said, it would worse with MCain, and it will be a LOT worse if the 'Baggers and Birthers get their way and put one of those numbnuts running under the Red into the White House...
Not a chance of that happening, though.

The lack of movement on the wars, first and foremost...too cozy with Wall Street...and personally not getting into the fray enough in Congressional policy battles.
Like I said, though...all of those problems would have been much worse if McCain had been in the White House...the fact that we didn't get everything from Obama that we thought doesn't change the fact that we got a lot more than we ever would have got from McCain.
...and we'll get far less even than what McCain would have done if any of the merry band of fools that have thrown their hat in the R ring will do if they pull off the impossible and actually win.

Any R who has actual aspirations of being President in the foreseeable future is staying far away from 2012, and will take their chances in 2016...that's why the lineup is so full of nuts and fruits.
