My annual camping trip this year will be at Lake Kaches. Will be there in late August.

Anyone fished on that lake? I've never fished it and would love to read about the how/when/where/what/and whys!

I Will be bankin' it near the campground and might have access to a 12' boat with an electric trolling motors.

Was thinking of starting with a baited k-fly for kokanee. Seems to work every where else.

Any one fished there and care to share with me the secrets. Since it's camping, I'd fish for anything. Not picky when camping. Just want to have some fun in the sun.

By August the water will probably be way down, which can make it challenging to lug a boat down to the edge. I've used the old mini-troll w/ wedding ring/maggot/white corn combo and done well on kokes there, I don't see why your fly wouldn't work too. The bite is normally first and last ligt of the day for an hour or so. Often in the midday, it's too windy to fish anyway. Go up in the hills and pick huckleberries in the afternoon!

Most of the fish I have caught there have been on the small side, but I have seen some nice catches come from the lake, and have seen some really big kokes up the Kachess River in the pool by the first big waterfall. This is closed water I think. Good Luck!

If you have a boat and want to hook into big fish(3-20Lbs+) that will put an instant smile on your face then i suggest skipping the wedding rings or flies and shift your efforts to Mackinaw/Lake trout. The bite is hot and heavy right now and will be till late august/september as the fish are just starting the prespawn bite and fattening up for fall. Check out the pictures of our success http://hometown.aol.com/NWNatives Pictures of this weekends fishing trip(22-23rd) will be up by tuesday afternoon.
