Hey FishnFellaS, I am coming over to your side of the hump July 3rd - 7th to visit my Pa. My Pa has property on Blue. I am planning on fishing Blue, Park, and Banks. How has the fishing been on these lakes? You wanna hook up and do some fishing? I have a boat so we can cover a lot of water.

Let me know.

He could show me a few things and I could show him a few things.

I see this as an oppurtunity to meet and fish with other board members.

Right on Texas Fling! Thanks for the report. Isn't funny how that happens. The first time I fished Banks was with someone who fishes it all the time, what did we get...zip. The next time I went out by myself and did really well. Go figure. confused

As far as you other guys go, you guys are blowing this out of perportion. mad

Hey Carl, I been gone a while in Tacoma at my 45 yr. High School Class reunion (Lincoln). Now I'm a qualified "old foggie" I guess. Or maybe I waz already, who knows.
Hell guys, I could fish with Carl without killing him. I'd just close my eyes while he flung his powerbait
and when he brought in his dead trout. Meantime I'd pretend he waz flyfishing C&R.
Actually it would give me a chance to convince him of the beauty amd effectiveness of flyfishing and it's conservation potential.
Unfortunately, the fishing down here sucks this time of year. I heard of one decent catch in Lenice last Thrusday, but that waz a cloudy cool day. Most of the fishing here now is Nights with leeches and I won't do that....the fish are still just too stressed when you tire them and drag them up into that warm surface water.
I'm leaving for Canada tomorrow and fish some "Secret hike in lakes" at 4500 feet up there this time of year. Hot, high jumping Kams from 3# to 5# that will bite on Mayflies or Sedges all day long.

BTW, I drove by Blue and Park Sunday on the way home and never seen them so deserted of fishermen on a weekend this time of year. Mostly jet sledders & skiiers on the lakes now, a sure sign they are in bad decline, which I already knew.

FishnFellaS,

That is to bad you are going to be out of town over the weekend. I can't wait to get to Banks and get into some large trout and even larger walleye. Heck, I have had pretty good luck on Banks even when it is blazin' hot.

I will post some pictures when I get back on the west side. cool

Yeah Banks is cooler than most of the smaller lakes and probably the best bet
in this area right now. I hear they are still getting fairly good walleye fishing. Smallmouth
have been hitting good too off and on..
I'd flyfish Banks this time of year because the waters so much cooler, but I've never
cracked the puzzle of what and where to get the trout on flies there.
It's pioneering work and I've only tried it (Osborne bay) a couple times with poor
results, 1-3 fish for all morning. The fish seem to scatter there is so much lake to
roam....basically a trolling situation I think. If I'm wrong clue me in!

I have had surprisingly good luck trolling small lures right on the surface with no weight in the middle of summer. Seems as though the trout like to suspend shallow in the middle of the lake. The walleye, I have found, also like to suspend about 30 feet in 60 feet of water instead of on the bottom like every one thinks. I think the key is presentation, dead slow, speed one on the electric motor.
