Pretty good game tonight. Felix was Felix, started a little rocky but was also getting squeezed by the floating strike zone. 3rd inning on he was untouchable. Olivio had a couple hits and it was refreshing to see a M's catcher swing the bat. Figgins homered and had another hit. The A's had 5 errors and looked shakey at best in the field, particularly their 3rd baseman.
The 2 instances where the broadcast crew went silent during the game in honor of Dave Neihaus was a very nice touch too. 1 down, 161 to go.
2-0. The M's are not murderers row by any stretch of the imagination BUT Olivio delivered a clutch pinch hit with 2 strikes tonight late in the ball game. Pitching has been solid and the defense has been good. One thing that has jumped out at me after two games is that the M's so far have been much better at moving runners and doing the little things like getting runners at 3rd home. Last season baserunners would die on the base paths.
Saw the old M's show up tonight...like the way this team is headed though. Have a stud 2nd baseman, Ackley, who can hit like a mofo coming up in June and our All Star caliber CF is coming back as well. Both should beef up our offense considerably and keep a close eye on our 4/5 starters against Texas next two games.
Bedard looks like he did 4 years ago and 21 yr old Pineida throws around 100 and is getting some junk going as his out pitches. .500 team this year but playoff caliber in a year or two once some money frees up from crap contracts expiring this year...GO M's!
Oh Ya, good to see the "buy the playoffs" RedSox sucking so bad...gotta have pitching and they dont. CHeers

M's were above the .500 mark for a total of nine days last year. Three days so far this year. Only seven more to go to show how greatly improved they are. When does football start???????????

Boy that enthusiasm was short lived. Saw the kid pitch last night and I think he'll suffice for a 5th starter. Overall I think the starting rotation is pretty decent. I wouldn't count the M's out of contention just yet. We just need to somehow manufacture some runs. The defense? It looked pretty shoddy the last couple of nights.
Texas led the division for pretty much the whole season last year with mediocre pitching...they just have the good bats. Just like in football, it doesn't take much to win our division. Have yet to see Anaheim, but I don't think the M's are that far behind Texas or Oakland.
M's have basically sucked for most of the last 33-34 years, no reason to expect that to change anytime soon. Hope the NFL gets their (stuff) together soon, I can't wait 18 more months.

I would, and have. Six games played and four back. :>)

Oh c'mon...you're not even gonna give them a chance? Fair weather fans All our games were on the road and Texas had all theirs at home!
I would hardly call Felix's performance a "shelling". It was a one run game in the 8th inning and his line of 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 SO was better than the winning pitcher's line. It was the 3 errors that did them in....
In honor of tonights home opener I just found a video of my niece and nephew being interviewed by FSN/Root Sports Brad Adam at last years Mariners Fanfest. My niece was in the middle of chemo treatment for leukemia and her hair is just starting to grow back.
A little background: They had won some $5,000 from AFV for that typical "boy hits ball into camera" clip and they used the money to start a new company. They had no idea what Dean was going to say or that he was going to give the company a little plug. Disclaimer: I am even worse at resizing/posting videos than I am photos....

What's pathetic? Hank crying at the Giants home opener or the M's performance tonight? Bases loaded in the 9th, no outs....I think they're making a comeback! Or not....
We went to the game last night, and while it was fun walking around the safe and the opening ceremonies were cool, the game was not so good. Vargas got shelled, offense was non existent, to sum it up it was "more of the same".

Saw today that one of my favorite cry baby, my schit don't stink, I'm better than everybody else, don't care about anybody but me, millionaire athletes has retired.
"Major League Baseball announced in a statement Friday that Manny Ramirez was leaving the game after being notified of an "issue" relating to the sport's drug policy." Apparently the issue being that everytime Manny is tested his tests come out positive. Rather then be suspended for 100 games, he just quit. What a pathetic POS.
In 2009 he was suspended 50 games for violating baseball's drug policy by taking human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a women's fertility drug...probably explains why he is such a little bitch! Good riddance Manny....
It really makes you appreciate players like Edgar Martinez.
