Well, with the way the Quran burning topic is going, I would really like to hear about this, would all of you who are all about protecting our rights, protect the people out there with signs reading " Thank God for dead soldiers", so they can continue to protest at fallen soldiers funerals?

It's not about protecting people, whether it be the dipshit in Florida burning Qurans, or the dipshits at funerals holding those retarded signs...

It's about protecting the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution, the very paper that those soldiers are dying for, the one they gave an oath to protect.

Fish on...

They have the right to do it. And we have the right to realize they are completely misguided shitstains. I don't view them that much differently than PETA or Ann Coulter. They garner attention by making outrageous statements.

People need to remember, too, that the 1st Amendment only prohibits the government from regulating or prohibiting protected free speech...if it's on private property, the landowner can tell them to go to hell or have them arrested...and it in no way stops any citizen from standing right next to them with a sign saying "This guy right here next to me is a fuckin moron"...

It's their right to protest the war.
I would hope that they would be considerate of the grieving families.

I haven't seen any of the Left putting up white crosses in fields to represent the fallen Soldier's, they sure were active when 43 was serving. The Hypocrisy of the left is sickining, nothing but political self serving low life scumbags. mad

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Yes.

Then I'd wish them to be struck by lightning for being the f'n goats they are.

Is this really that confusing for you?

There was a nice video over on YouTube about the Veteran Biker group that made a buffer between the protestors and the funeral attendees.

Looked to be simple, low key, and outnumbered the "church folks" about 100:1.

An entirely appropriate response.

Please read, then think. Do you still think these wack jobs are liberals?

Phelps and other members of the Topeka, Kan., church have picketed outside many military funerals holding signs with offensive messages such as "God Hates You" and "God Hates Fags." The church believes military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan are God's punishment for U.S. tolerance of homosexuality and a sign the nation's destruction is imminent.

I ask because normal, run of the mill stupidity can't begin to cover your last post...it takes a lot more than that, so I figgered it must be drugs and booze.

If not, then it's flat out insanity...which is a bummer for you, because the drugs and booze might wear off, and the insanity probably won't.

Dave, I was not reffering to them, more so to the Cindy Sheehan crowd. Granted the post was out of context. Sorry for that. wink

We do preserve their right to have a voice, which is good. It may not be right to censor them, but I think it would be right to make them stand the F back. A funeral is a very dark time in a families life and I think it's solitude should be protected.

I love our right to free speech, but these people I think are some of the only people I've thought needed a rubber bullet to the chest. I don't mind seing pics of aborted fetuses on a picket sign and "obama is hitler" booths on my walk to class. That same right protects people who promote peace in other countries and support environmental movements. I just wish those funeral peeps were in my neighborhood so that I could protest in front of their church.

Guru,

As noted, it's not about protecting people, it's about protecting the right of free speech. What the Westboro church folks apparently didn't understand at first is that their right of free speech ends where the rights of the family and friends' of the fallen soldier right to an undisturbed funeral service begins. That funeral service is a form of expression, also a form of free speech, and probably religious freedom for some.

The fact that the Westboro folks have rights doesn't trump the rights of others. It's amazing that so many Americans are retarded in their comprehension of basic principles. Poor education, no doubt.

When a friend I grew up with was ambushed, kidnapped, tortured, then killed, members of that church threatened to come protest his funeral.

Members of my community let them know that would not be a wise decision.

THEN, the Patriot Guard Riders came...

Fuggin classless wack jobs...

I am thankful for your service Tom...
