HERE is a link to an ongoing survey of data collection and correlation to rank states on how they treat the freedoms of its citizens.
You can get some past information by doing a search for "Freedom in the 50 states"
It's a long read for sure, but I think you'll find that the data is treated objectively.
There is a lot of good information, and perhaps it will open some eyes.

Summarize? Fer Chrissakes, Hank the document is 64 freaking pages long. You ever heard of Acrobat Reader?? It's free, buddy.....buy it!

rofl rofl

Here's a little of it....

Washington's ranking out of 50.....(higher is most restrictive)...

Washington
"Washington scores #41 on economic freedoms,
#35 on personal freedoms, and #44 overall. While
taxes are fairly low, spending is higher than average,
and accordingly government debt is quite high. The
government payroll is much larger than average. For
a liberal state, gun laws are quite reasonable. Alcohol
is fairly tightly controlled, with taxes on spirits the
highest in the country by far (effectively $21.15 per
gallon). Marijuana laws are a bit better than average,
but making high-level possession and low-level cultivation
misdemeanors and low-level possession a civil
offense would help further. Washington does not
authorize sobriety checkpoints. Educational regulation
is absurdly tight, with private schools needing
state approval and under certain conditions teacher
licensing, and home schoolers needing to meet
teacher qualifications, annual standardized testing,
and extensive recordkeeping rules, along with other
requirements. Land-use planning is becoming more
centralized. Labor and health insurance laws are
poor. Asset forfeiture has been reformed, but eminent
domain has not. Cigarette taxes are high, and smoking bans are extensive."

........and here's the criteria ranking chart...... I had to shrink it to take a screen shot and blow it up so it's not very clear. All just for you...dipstick wink

Junk statistics.
A person is as free as he allows himself to be even here in Kommunist Kalifornia.
According to these stats I live in shackles.

What is the scariest part is that the most restrictive states' populace (for the most part) think everyone should live like they do. huh

You talk about "groomed"! And furthermore they raise their kids to think ....er... NOT think about how many lost freedoms their parents accept(ed) because they were not directly affected and therefore selfishly, and possibly cowardly, dodged the issue by fleeing down the dead-end tunnel of "it's not my problem".

Did you call for Bush's head when he put forward the Patriot Act?

Or did you vote for him again?

It's kind of like your brother. Sure, YOU can try to kick his ass, but let anybody else try it, and there's going to be trouble.

Hank....more so than you think

Whose right?

As long as no one forces me to go there, I'm OK with that!

I've responded to the tired old California insults so many times my head spins.

WHY IN THE HELL DO PEOPLE ARGUE LIKE THIS?

If I even slightly defend it, suddenly you're stuffing words in my mouth like I said "California is the best place on Earth"

OK?

I'll just keep quietly adding pics to my album, and let you believe whatever the fukk you want.

As far as New York being rated as the worst?
I have a friend there that will blow a giant hole in that bulllshitt theory as well.

Aunty---How about you hang some pics that out perform Sal and his son. I'm sure a vision of outdoor fitness and hardcore endeavor such as yourself, could show a man like Salmonella and his son how silly they are living in their "screwed" up state.

If you can't... shut the f.ck up and go make me a pie...kitten.

And then there were 2 tours in San Diego.

The fact that we got sent other places is what educated us that CA is not what we like.

What has any of that got to do with CA's screwed up politics, gang issues and crime, air pollution and too many fricken people? Did I mention you have too many fricken people there?

I've been stewing about this post for several days now.
I really don't care that you did not like it here in California, however I find your descriptions of where I live to be beyond laughable.
No offense Aunty but you lived in the ghetto, hence your off key perspective.

My rub comes when you generalize the entire state based on your term in the Vallejo and San Diego areas.
Good God, I'd go out of my mind living there as well.

This thread is about freedom in 50 states right?

Personal freedom starts at home, if you have a sidewalk and neighbors on all sides you might as well be in a jail cell.
I often wonder how many people on these outdoor forums bitch about California's crowded conditions all the while living in some apartment or subdivision surrounded by neighbors, asphalt and concrete.
Coming home to freedom in a scenic, private environment is where freedom starts.
I have that.

Last evening I took a drive over to my buddy's 5,000 acre cattle ranch on the east side of the lake.
Absolute solitude.
Not even the sound of a single vehicle.
Freedom?
Like you wouldn't fuggin believe.

I spend a lot of time on a ranch in far northeastern California's Modoc County as well .
freedom is very abundant there as well.

As much as I've enjoyed my life here in my lil paradise, I'll be the first to admit that much of this state sucks and if I could move the wife I would.

Yes, there are lots of better places to live, but when you generalize, you are missing a whole lot.

Your portrayal of California is the exception rather than the rule and you know it. I think your pseudo offense is nothing more than an opportunity to show off.
Don't take me wrong. What you have is awesome, but to try to propose that it represents California is way beyond accurate.

Dad was a Navy Career man....lived in San Diego, San Fransico, El Cajon, and Pleasant Hills. Also have two brothers who lived down there most of their lives in Bakersfield. Been a while now since I was down there, but I'm really certain that things haven't gotten better, know what I mean?
