Has anyone been over and fished Lenore since the weather has cooled?

I haven't fished it yet,but have driven by on several occasions, including on a
weekend. PEOPLE ARE AVOIDING IT IN DROVES. You could be all alone on
there in the fall if it follows last years pattern.

What happened last year to Lenore? I flyfished it a couple times in November and did pretty well. It was cold as h***, even snowed a little, but the fish were active and hungry. Would like to do the same thing again this year.

FishnfellaS-
I know that it is just down the road from you, so maybe you can fill me in a little better. I have not been over there since the big kill. Word around here is that it is picking back up. I know that it has been hit real hard by the midnight Russian raids, but had heard that they got busted. So what's up?
You may remember or not, but we met this spring out at the north end of West Medical Lake. We were talking about leeches and you showed me what you thought was the best leech pattern made. You pulled out your fly box and opened it up and all that was in there were plastic worms! You are probably right, but I haven't tried it yet, afraid that I might knock myself out on one of the forward casts. I have chuckled about that several times since. Maybe we will connect again next spring on West Medical. Sure did get a lot of nice big fish out of there this spring.

Yeah, I remember you. How.s Fishing over that way? I had some killer days on W. Medical this spring fishing Black chironomids with blood red ribs in 6 feet of water.. Got some nice triploids too.

The leach thing is NO JOKE. Strangely, it works like nothing else some places and
other places they treat it like poision. If you have an aversion to LURES,think of it as
a RUBBER FLY.

The scoop on Lenora is that it has recovered fully and fished great this spring on
the North End as usual. I don't really like that double hogline that forms up there,
but fished it 4 times this spring and did well with fish mostly 2# and a couple to
near 4#. Now I haven't fished it myself this fall after our summer of many 100 degree
days, but I've heard no scuttlebut about any more summerkill.

Suspect it will fish great this fall for fish to 5#. You know what they say.....North end
in Spring, South end in Fall.

W. Medical did product some nice fish around Memorial Day. I pulled out a 4# rainbow on a cranefly pattern. He was cruising in about 2' of water.
I am going to try to get out there this weekend. Wanted to go yesterday, but didn't want to fight 30-40 mph winds. Besides, I think the Palouse lost about an inch of top soil and it covered Spokane.
Amber produced well this year. I was out there a week ago sunday and did good. The bows are moving into the shallows and taking waterboatman. Many of them are fattening up and fight like mad.
If the fish are working the shore at Amber, I would guess that they are doing that also at West Medical. They love searching the weed beds.
I've been watching your travels throughout the year. You really take retirement seriously. Looking forward to doing the same.
By the way, Medical Lake finally yielded some Browns. They were on the lean side though. (see lake index fishing reports)
I don't know if I will get over to Lenore or not in Oct. I really miss that trip. A fall evening on that lake with the honkers coming in over the water is not easily forgotten.
I'll post a report on West Medical this week if I get a chance to go out there.

I agree - the fish have recovered from the fish kills completely. This spring was very good indeed.

Spoke to a game warden who is a friend of mine last week. He said that the fishing is picking up on Lake Lenore and that the Russians are out in force. He's been issuing a few citations out there lately for various violations.

Might be worth a trip in October while everybody is out bird hunting. Good luck!
