Bummer sorry to hear about your boat. I had someone try to steal the motor off of my smaller boat last year. I live in the sticks so this stuff happens everywhere. Now everything gets locked up and put away no matter how tired I am.

Carl,

Got any material we can use to build a blind by where you store your boat? I could get some decoys and a call of some sort (figure this is like duck hunting) and we could fill them with steal (pun intended) shot.

Don't think there's any limit on these kind. They should be classed as vermin.

Let's see how this all comes together. You guys lay for this clown and Arkanas him as he attempts to heist your boat. You guys get convicted of attempted murder and are sentenced to 15 years. The thief claims he was abused as a child and his mother didn't love him. He gets 18 months in the county jail, with 12 months suspended because of his good behavior while he was in the hospital healing from a load of buckshot in the ass. He is released and returns to the scene of the crime and is successful nextime taking the whole set up.
There is an easier way--move. wink

Sorry to here that easy! Hope the Federal Way cops do better for you than they did for me when my old boat got stripped, and car was broken into. Never heard anything in ether case.Messing with a mans boat is like messing with a mans woman. UNFORGIVABLE!! Sounds like these guys need invited on a "fishing trip". "But officer I dont know how he fell overboard with the anchor line around his neck".

Hey Carl, sorry to hear what happened. Sounds like you need to lock and load that trailer of yours to the truck, keep the motor end against the wall, park next to a motion detector lite, and put your mattress in the boat. Any concilation, if you're going to bank it on the Green, the tides perfect this week though its been slow in the tidal waters. Guess when the nets come up, so will the fish. wink

Don't think that I don't feel for you, I have had the same thing happen to me. I had a new 8hp Merc stolen out of my apartment after I had saved for years to get it. It had 2 hours on it and being a poor student, I had no insurance.

Since you are locked into a lease, you might call a couple of the marinas over there and ask if there is some kind of concealed alarm system you could wire up. You can't be the first person this has happened to. It may even help out on your insurance costs.

Another thought is with all of the storage facilities popping up all over the place, maybe there is one close to your favorite launch area that you could keep it in a locked garage. I don't know how much they run a month, but it may give you peace of mind and you could sleep at night. It might be well worth the money for awhile til you can get into another, more secure area. That may help on the insurance premiums also.
The only way that you can really keep them from stealing it again is for them not to be able to see it.

Yes there are some good people living in apartments. Yes crime does happen everywhere.

When you get that many people living in a small area. The CRACK HEAD per square mile goes up.
So a housing development might have 3 CRACK HEADS in it. where as your 300 unit apartment has many more.

Apartments draw CRACK HEADS like, [Bleeeeep!] draws flies.

Only my 2 cents worth

If there were some fishermen standing around, and happen to see someone trying to steal a boat motor. Maybe the fishermen could talk the thief into going fishing.
While fishing you could stop by a far off
un populated island. laugh Some times people can't find there way back to the boat, and sometimes people get left behind. The right thing to do then would be to contact the police and tell them you lost your fishing partner on the island. I would do this in a promt maner. Two, three days max.

I wish, this would never happen in the real world. To many bleeding hearts.

Just goes to show how stupid thieves are. By the time they got the motor off yanking it with a strap, it would be too mangled to be worth a whole lot. My fishin' partner had a a 20hp 'rude taken from his boat, backed in the driveway against the garage. Nobody heard an thing, not even the dog! He has repalced it with a 50'Merc jet. It took two of us to lift it on, if they want that one they will really have to work at it!

People these days have no respect. I have a 12Gage and a box of rock salt I'll loan ya!!
