That's exactly how I do it smile
The knot is a Uni knot. (3-4 wraps)

IMO, the knot is not finished in the demo....work the wraps uphill until you get rid of that long crossing wrap.

After it's been under tension it is a bugger to get undone but you can do it if necessary.

By "locking clip" I mean a locking carabiner. I did not lose the anchor due to any kind of knot failure.

I'd still bag the carabiner. But if it floats your boat I'd use a simple bowline in either case. I've never had to tape or stitch the tag end of a properly tied bowline, which is very secure under load and still easy enough to untie if necessary. IMO, I think a DB anchor picks up better with out the additional hinge point of a snap lock. One less thing to snag up too.

BTW, old snow chains make a good anchor if you don't plan on anchoring in heavy flows.

Got my anchor the other day. I'll be rolling with a good solid knot for now but I'll probably try the thimble idea when I get a new rope.

Thanks everyone,

Drew

Old piece of net is the best! Just use rocks. If it doesnt hold get a bigger rock!
