So college football, the world's greatest sport, begins in a couple months. Who's your pick to make a good showing? Does UO win the Pac 12? Will WSU win at all? Will the SEC bring home the Natty again?

And just for you, Keith: http://azstarnet.com/sports/article_535f2f48-b238-5026-b1d0-c8a7e618bd26.html

I look for SU to win the Pac12 this year because UO is going to be distracted by the NCAA sniffing around and the whole Willie Lyles thing. The Utes may also make a good showing, but they have yet to play a schedule where you have to bring it every week.

The Huskies came off last season with a big win against NU. They need to hold on to that momentum. If Price can be effective, UW should be able to get enough wins to go bowling again.

The Coogers don't look very good.

With Luck coming back, SU looks good to me. UCLA had better do something, or Tricky Ricky is really gonna feel some heat. ASU looks like they could contend, but they'll probably do a late-season fade and fail to make a bowl game. UA, OSU, and Cal I can't say......same with CU.

I'm not going discuss SC, because they were bad and can't go bowling.

Your thoughts?

Dunno other than Oregon's first game is against LSU.
Their offense is fairly intact but they lost some key players on defense.
This first game could define the season for them.

UW had that great win against Nebraska but they also have a rematch on September 17......that'll be huge.

Stanford will be strong ...

This is a pretty good list but it will get blown up in the first week.

The Pac 12 race will be a fun, wild ride, but it will be the Pondcrappers by a bill when the dust settles. Huskies endure early QB growing pains and ride Chris Polk's legs to a lower-tier bowl game. WSU wins one or two more than last season.

Frickin' Oklahoma wins the NCG over some frackin' SEC team.

Bet against these prognostications confidently, as I am almost always wrong.

Could be another tough year for the Beavs, big question during spring ball was who is Quizz's replacement, from my personal observations, nobody.
There are a couple incoming freshman, quality unknown.
The other question is middle linebacker, I like Unga, but Mike seldom listens to me.
Two new JC defensive ends should help in defending the option, which last year proved very effective against the Beaver defense.

UofO is going to be very tough, troubles aside...Stanford, too...I think the new teams will have a tough go of it, even if they have some talent, they haven't had to prepare for a good team almost every week of the season, nor have they had to deal with getting the schit beat out of them by big and strong teams every week.

Washington has got a chance to be a bit better than last year...I see them with a winning record and a bowl bid again, hopefully a game or two better than last year. They're not going to go to the Rose Bowl or anything, but they'll be scrappy.

The Coogs, unfortunately for CoogFans, will suck again, just as bad as last year. They got nuthin'. Beavs won't be much better.

Sorry.

Fish on...

Todd

I'm really looking forward to the Pac 12 two division format and a conference championship game.
As a Dawg fan, I want to see a huge dose of Polk, Callier, Cooper and Sankey. That will take some of the pressure on Price while he settles in the first few games. Once Sept 17th rolls around, he'll need to start make plays through the passing game or the dawgs will end up seeing 8 guys in the box every down.
Should be another great season for the best sport going.

With our new TE talent, that might be a formation that gets opposing defenses burned.

It's been a long time since we had a real threat at TE.

Good point Dan. Sefarian Jenkins & Hartvigson will be a good tandem to watch.
We had a threat (Middleton), but he turned out to only be a threat to himself......

Local sports news is reporting agent that Ducks paid $25K is saying he has a hand written letter from Chipper that doesn't look good for the Ducks.

Stanford looks like the team to beat in the Pac-12 North with Luck returning and throwing to Owusu and the Skov brothers at LB.

Oregon has too many distractions but has talent. Chip and Phil got it going.

Washington has no proven QB and their success will ride with the offensive line and Polk. No RB depth as I've heard Jori Folgelson has a concussion. No depth at DT behind Ta amu. Trufant sucks. LB corp has no experience. There is some talent at receiver but nobody to get them the ball. Tough schedule.

Oregon State loses their star RB and DT. Not sure about how the Beavs will do as I haven't seen them since they got their asses kicked at home by the worst Pac 10 team last year.

California has lots of talent but can't win the big one and get to the Rose Bowl. Players get soft at Cal.

Washington State has a great schedule to start but has road games at UCLA, ASU, and Oregon. Two games being played at QWEST in Seattle - OSU and UW. Moos is starting to build WSU into a contender just like he did at UO. Returning QB Tuel has the best corp of receivers ever assembled at WSU per coach Levenseller, including Wilson and Karstetter. RB is a little thin but Mitz will gain yards when the pass opens up the run. The offensive line coach is good and there is some talent. Hopefully Alex Mitchell and Wendell Taiese play on either the OL or DL. Defensive secondary is good and the linebacking corp is talented led by CJ Mizell and Alex Hoffman Ellis. Got some help at DE from the JCs and still have Long. DT is the wildcard but should be improved.

If what WSU is doing makes them a "contender", I'd hate to see them when they suck.

Just sayin'.

This is a good line of thinking and has merit.

OSU losing Jaquiz Rogers is gonna hurt but I think James gets to come back for a 5th and final season because of his knee issue early last season. Mike Riley has his act together and I expect new recruits to step up soon.

Rest of the league? Who gives a damn......Beaves all the way! laugh

Southern Division Pac 12:

I'm going with Arizona State because they have a lot of returning starters and Burfict is an NFL caliber LB.

USC next because they have talent. Not sure when scholie limits will hurt them.

Arizona has a good offense with a couple of big receivers.

Utah has been good the last couple of years.

UCLA because Slick Rick can do a good job of preparing to win games.

Colorado last. I just don't know much about the Buffs.

I'm going with Stanford to win the Pac 12.

We'll have to see what happens in fall camp.

Here's my predicted order of finish for the North Division Pac-12:

1. Stanford
2. Oregon
3. Washington State
4. Washington
5. Oregon State
6. California
