Mine just started doing this yesterday. Pretty anoying when fishing solo. Ganna try the nut tighten thing. But if not is there a place in pa that does service? I checked swains and did not see brakes or friction pads in there downrigger section won't be in Seattle area for a long time...

Mine was doing this early in the year, but it stopped with further use..... I think it had to do with water getting into the drag system.

I was told by the folks at OE that that you can't just buy brakes, that it is a warranty issue. So when they service it they will replace them. I would have brought mine in but it was going to take them a week and I am fishing pretty much 5 days a week right now. (Fishing, not catching)

Mine has not dropped the ball since I tightened things up.
