Probably do the same as you heading to jameson. Do you bank it or boat it for the opener? We usually take the boat to a spot on the bank we like to fish. thumbs

I have allways had a boat to fish out of. I have changed over the years as where and what ways I fish. I used to take the boat over to the other side and then bank fish with bait. That was when I used to stay at the south end of the lake. For the last 8 years or so I stay at the north end troll all the time my catch rate is the same but fish are bigger. When they changed the rules of catching and releasing using bait that the fish counted even if you didnt keep them. I changed to just trolling. If you see a grey inflatable with a 25 hp yamaha give me a shout. what end to you fish.

I'll be out chasing turkeys for the trout opener. This will be the first one I've missed in a long time.

But, I will get some good feathers for fly tying.

We usually stay at the south end, and this year I believe we will stick to fishing mostly out of the boat. I have had alot of luck on a frog color flatfish so that is where I will start. I have a 15ft northwood with a 25hp johnson. I will be looking for you.

Easy,

Why the heck Blue Lake? I can think of other lakes that would be better.

Any trout trips to Banks in the offing?

I am going with a bunch of buddies. They planned it that way. I am just going along for the ride. We will definately be fishing some of the other lakes around there too. Banks for sure! thumbs

Must be because you could make reservations at Blue. I was looking at Park, but rules are no reservations until after May 15th there.

I used to stop and fish blue and park on my way back from jameson everyear. It was nice to be in the shade and get cleaned up. Both have good fishing. I allways get a chuckle of everyone fishing along the shore next to the highway. Got to get their early to get a spot. Thats what is nice about jameson lake . I have a permanent spot reserved for both openers. I dont have to get their 3 days early to get a nice spot and then sit around and wait for the opening day to come. Now I get Their friday late afternoon pull into my spot get the gear unloaded and ready . Suck down some brews then get up next morning and fish for three days straight.

Bill, have you looked at Laurents Sun Village, between Blue and Park?

Last year I stayed at the place on the south end of Blue lake. Had relatives there and we wanted to join them on a trip.

Tried making reservations at Sun Lakes state park for the opener this year, but they don't take reservations that early.

Turned out it didn't matter as I forgot that's the weekend I'm headed out turkey hunting. Last year we got two and this year should do similar. I got all the feathers I needed for tying last year and want to get some more.

i'm probably heading out to hicks lake again this year, i believe this will make 14 years in a row smile

despite the crowds, it's usually good fishing and there's lots of big holdovers swimming around in the spring. in fact, i've never fished the lake on opening day and not limited

Hey Zen, save me some Turkey tail feathers.
I have a couple hike in Opening Day lakes (which shall remain nameless because of small size) that I fish on opening day.
I'll brave the combat fishing on Lenore because the fish are big and the majority of flyfishermen have enuff manners to fish side by side.
But those opening day powerbait crowds.....and for some crummy 10" planters........I don't think so!!!!!

i usually toss back the planters. it's the holdovers and triploids that i'm after, with their red meat

a bucketful of perch never hurts either wink

Me and a buddy will be hitting Pine Lake. Man I love that lake. The people are usually so nice (few exceptions of course), and fish are almost always being pulled in.

I'll be trolling Uncle Wes Worm Trolls.

I plan on fishing at Trout Lake in Federal Way. If it's too crowded (not much parking there) I'll go across the street to Five Mile and carry my new boat down to the water. I bought an Eagle Fishmark 320, and hopefully I'll have it by then. I'm really looking forwards to seeing what's actually down there on the lakes that I've been bank fishing at for years.

Downtown Centralia at Forst Borst Park Pond. I'll be taking my 4 year old (who has been fishing since she was 2) and will also take my middle daughter who took up fishing this winter. I'll spend the whole day putting lids back on the power bait, untangling lines, and answering important questions like "Does this fish love me?" and "Why can't I keep my fish in my room?"

We'll be at Jameson Wed-Mon. Be sure to take some big garbage bags with you to Jameson,it'll be a Friggen dump after opening weekend. Last year I filled the bed of my truck with garbage left over from the weekend. Broken tent poles, broken lawn chairs, old batteries, you name it,a$$holes left it behind. mad frown beathead

One of the nice things about staying in a private resort cuts down on the idiots. I remember having people try to practically camp on top of you in the middle of the night. because they showed up late and no spots were left.
