No schit...the last thing we need is American citizens utilizing their Constitutionally guaranteed rights to peacably assemble, to exercise free speech, and to publicly air their grievances.

We should be encouraging them instead to swing by Wal-Mart and pick up some plastic garbage from China, throw it in a landfill on the way home, and veg out on the couch watching American Idol.

I drove by that scene on the way to the annual American Fisheries Society Conference. I couldn't tell what they were protesting and didn't pay it much mind because I figured there was always some sort of protest going on in downtown Seattle.

I'm just waiting for the reports of damage after the protest. Hopefully I am surprised, and they actually behave themselves.

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Police in Washington say hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered security guards and damaged railroad cars and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute.

Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha says six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack.

He says no one was hurt and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters have returned to their union hall.

Duscha says brake lines were cut on a train and grain was spilled from cars.

The union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that's staffing a workforce of other union laborers.

If citizens in somewhere like, oh, I dunno...Libya?...we're doing stuff like this, we'd send in bombers to support them.

Here, when Americans exercise their Constitutional rights, those Constitution loving right wingers want to hang them by their balls.

Hypocrisy doesn't even begin to describe it.

No Todd, I'm just placing a bet that it won't go down as planned. I hope I am wrong, and I somewhat agree with their ideas. I was in Seattle for the WTO riots. That was supposed to be peaceful, and we were locked down in the Columbia Tower for a few hours.

I also think that flash mobs are as dorky as that guy in the AT&T commercial.

If they get violent, then they're breaking the law...throw the book at 'em, hard...but until then, everyone who wants to "support our troops" should be supporting the Constitution that those troops are supposedly protecting.

I didn't realize hostage taking and criminal trespass was a protected constitutional right.

I also don't recall anything about a flash mob taking hostages or trespassing.

I know...this thread is supposed to be about the flash mob...I wasn't defending anyone who's breaking the law, just defending those who are exercising their Constitutional rights, and not getting any respect for it...I guess they chose the wrong Amendments to exercise.
