Thinking about heading to Riffe for silvers or Mayfield for trout. Cant decide which, any opinions would be appreciated.

I hear Mayfield is good for 'bows around 10-12".

Riffe DOES NOT HAVE KOKANEE. Kokanee are land-locked sockeye. Riffe has "silvers" land-locked coho.

Anyways, Mayfield is a sure bet to catch your limit of white meated, eroded finned, non-fighting 10" rainbows.

Riffe is a harder lake to fish but the rewards are awesome. I went the other day and in one hour of trolling pulled out a 12 and 14 inch silver.

I caught them near the Mossyrock launch actually. Launched boat and trolled out and to the left, not too far away since I didn't stay that long. Used pop gear and wedding ring tipped with worm. I put out a ton of line with 3/4 ounce lead. Also changed the hook b/c I hate the small hooks on wedding rings--lose a lot of fish with them small hooks. Good Luck

Fished Riffe on the 20th, from the pedestrian bridge on the east end of the lake. Got lots of bites on shrimp-worm combo but only managed to bring up 4 1/2 Silver Salmon in 6 hours of fishing. The 1/2 fish dropped off halfway up the bridge! Size ranged from 10 to 13 inches. The weather was terrible, gusty winds and plenty of rain, but not as bad as the next day which was a deluge! Some trollers were out but I did not see them land a fish. Taidnapam Park is first class! Anyone catch Silvers bigger than 13 inches?

I have caught two silvers out of there 16" and a couple 12-14" class. But, most by far are around 10" or so. Have seen others do well too, but most fish are smallish.

I fished Riffe on the 21st, rain and all. I trolled all day for about 20 fish, all released. 3 14 inch, a bunch of 13 inchers, and a couple of little ones from a different year class. These fish are great on a light line trolling rig. Wedding rings and corn. It's not ease to tell these from Kokes at this size. If you pay attention to the subtle stuff, the kokes have a pink sheen at certain angles (none in Riffe, as has been noted). I found the silvers in pods of 3 or 4, not in big schools.

Well i went to Riffe thursday. Morning was windy and white capping. No schools or fish for three hours. Eventually the wind died and i found a school of silvers around 27ft. Trolled through the school for about 2 hours catching a dozen or so. Kept three 10 to 12 inches and lost one at the boat that was prob. 14 inches and fat. Trolled just a red wedding ring with 3 ounce cannonball on a spreader no drop. Patience paid off this time. Went across from camp ground boat launch. No need for the ford fenders et al. water clarity is very high.
