Skookumchuk Res would be a likely candidate to rehab w/tigers considering the sucker population.

I imagine access is the reason.

We won't be introducing them to any new spots here in southwest Washington. In fact, some people don't want them where they already are such as Mayfield and Merwin.

Mayfield is turning into a musky trophy fishery too. There are some very beautiful fish there. When I helped sample Mayfield we got one so big it wouldn't fit in the live well. It was such a beautiful fish.

As far as getting around the rule of using live bait, if an enforcement officer is watching how your fishing and they determine that is what you are doing they can still get you on it. It's just best not to use them for that purpose. No sense in tempting Fate!

That they could be eating juvenile salmonids. It's a pretty hot topic in both Merwin and Mayfield. Hard to say how's it's going to end up. Hopefully in favor of mixed management!

It is my understanding Tigermusky is a hybred. It is a cross between Musky and Northern Pike so they are steryl by nature. They were planted in Mayfield to control the Squaw fish population. Within 5 years the average Squaw fish went from 14 inches to 7. The average life span of the Tigermusky is 5 to 7 years. They were planting about 100 new fish each year. I don't know if they still are. But all they have to do quit planting and they will eventually go away

Dutchman, yes they are a hybrid of musky and northern pike. I was fishing Mayfield last summer and was talking to a biologist doing tests on the population in the lake. He said that they are sterile but there is a very small chance they could be fertile, mostly in the females.

They only live 5-7 years? they must grow really fast!
