Most folks here are undoubtedly Seahawks, Mariners, Huskies, or Cougars fans. But there might be at least a small handful of us that happen to be Seattle Sounders fans. For us, today is Kasey Keller day.



Tonight Washington native son Keller will be playing his final regular season game before more than 62,000 enthusiastic fans at CenturyLink Field.

Thank you, Kasey, for not only what you have done for our Seattle Sounders, but also for what you have done to raise the profile of American soccer around the world.

Is he retiring?

Yes. The Sounders have qualified for the playoffs so Keller will continue to play. But he officially retires at the end of the season.

Are you going to the game?

Yes. I'm leaving for the game in about 15 minutes...or whenever my wife is finally ready to go.

I don't like watching it on T.V, but I would like to go and watch it at the Link. Don't the fans march in the streets before the game or sumpting?

Soccer doesn't do much for me....too slow on the scoring side of things. Now if they widened the net and each team had two goalies......that would make things interesting. (My Opinion Solely)

Yeah, before the game fans gather in Occidental Park. The Sounders band shows up and usually someone from the Sounders front office, perhaps Drew Cary or someone else, who then says a few words to those gathered. They then march and sing all the way to the CLink. The March to the Match usually draw crowds of more than a thousand.

The attendance for last night's game was 64,140. It was a fun night.

No, Drew is up here a lot and often speaks to the Sounders fans, etc. But I've never heard him utter a word about politics. It's probably a wise move by any team owner, regardless of political viewpoint, to not risk alienating a segment of the fan base by raising political issues.

Boring? Slow? Perhaps. But watch the last 15 minutes of last nights game. What a thrill! What a comeback! If this game had made a difference in the standings that would have been incredible.As it was it was pretty fantastic to watch.

I think we need to get a street named Kasey Keller. I think it should be a dead end because nothing gets through Kasey Keller!

What will we do when he is gone?

Soccer is a beautiful game, especially when there is not much scoring. Great athletes, you never see a fat soccer player as opposed to football and baseball (which I also love). But hey, I love rugby as well. Go All Blacks!!!!!

What's the price of a ticket for a decent seat?

Kasey already has a street named after him in Lacey. Right off of Martin Way leading to North Thurston High School, the school he attended.

Sol Duc: Prices vary of course. But Sounders tickets are much cheaper than Seahawks tickets. For instance, my seat is on the first level in the charter seats section and my tickets are $41. But there cheaper seats available (and more expensive ones too). In fact there are cheaper seats on the 3rd level that include free hot dogs, popcorn, pop, etc.

My wife and I happened to be in Paris when Arsenal (UK) played Barcelona in some kind of playoff game. Fans of the respective teams were in bars on opposite sides of the street. Much drinking of beer, cheering one's own team, jeering the opposing team and fans, music, flag waving, lots of noise, but well short of mayhem. Those folks take their soccer seriously!

Kasey probably will not be playing tonight as he and many of the other regular starters have yellow cards. Expect to see the "B" team tonight as we are already through to the next part of the tourney.

Cool stuff if you are a soccer fan,me not so much.Like mentioned above boring & not enough scoring.Nothing like the NFL or college football.So I can sit in my HAWK seats and get free hotdogs and pop corn and soda's??????.Good luck,

It's all a matter of perspective, personal taste, and understanding the rules of a particular game. Some people get bored stiff watching a baseball game or only see cars going round and round when watching a NASCAR race. But for baseball and auto racing fans these sports are anything but boring.

Basketball has always bored me to tears but I know many others who would claim that basketball is the most exciting game in the world. And for them it is. Nothing wrong with that. My wife finds baseball boring while I have the exact opposite view even though I no longer follow the game.

I find soccer to be very exciting. I like the continuous activity, no time outs or stopping the clock, and minimal substitutions. I also like the skill and beauty of the game when it is played correctly. But I also understand that soccer is not everyone's cup of tea. And that's alright too.
