The worst Matzuo will break before you get to even see if the fish a trophy or what it was for that matter. Make sure you get QUALITY Matzuo or you will be severely angered and likly spitting every fishing word in the book. I know this is very true for sickle hooks. Others I can't say for certain but make sure you have a quality sickle or you will not be happy.

Stay with the upper end hooks.

What if the fish the fish lost was the fish of a lifetime? How much is that worth to bring to hand?

The worst Matzuo smokes the best Gammie. I needn't "if",because I simply fish and all hooks are not equal nor close.

YGTBFK, right?

Matzuo sickle octopus had the most inconsistent points of any premium hook I've EVER used. The latest hooks out of China are horribly brittle and WILL universally break at the first angular bend off the shank. Watch out for the deeply discounted sickles from internet sellers.... they're sitting on tens of 1000's of crappy hooks that they would LOVE to dump on you.

If you are a fan of the sickle bend, the best one on the market is made by Gamakatsu.

My name is eyeFISH, and I approve this message.

Nothing smaller then a 2/0 for kings.Like said above that's your problem.

Nice ASSumption SZ. Wrong again. Never said 6 and 4 - said 4 and 2. We fish Salmon down here the way you clowns fish Steelies up there. Believe it or not there is more than one way to do something. We have low water most years so presentations must be small and stealth, even for Kings.

So, whats the answer for jig hooks?
Looking to pour 3/8oz with 4/0 and 1/2oz jigs with like 5/0 hooks, unless there is a better combination.
What is the reccomendation from the gang?

i love owners...owners owners owners...i dont use the cutting points..i belive they make a bigger hole in turn its not worth it for me...

the SSW's are perfect for me smile and i have never broke one on a fish...but i use 8lb leaders for pretty much everything...even kings...so my leader may break before the hook would...but gami's have broke on me even with 8lbers...but not on a fish..on rocks... smile

I Love Owners smile
