If you could fish any open lake in the state rigth now. What lake would it be. And what would you fish for?

I want to get out this weekend.
1. Rufus. never fished it.. Walleye and trout
2. Banks. I love this lake. And it'd nice fat rainbows.
3. Rosevelt. Only fished it a few time. But I'd like yo try the walleye and trout. Both silvers and rainbows.
4. Chelan. I've not fished it before. But I would love to pull in a few lakers.

I'll report back after the weekend. Tell ya where I went and what if anything was caught.

Roosevelt or Rufus.... by your choices.

Me, I'm headed to the Potholes Rez next weekend for the wily walleye.

Well Chelan is just fishing incredible. guide Anton Jones is taking 20-30 a day. But you have to be ready for deep trolling - 200-240 ft. Otherwise Roosevelt has such great rainbows - best eating, nice size, easier to catch - how could you go wrong?

I'll be trying the Quincy lakes myself this weekend. I've heard reports of some good fish taken there so far - I'll post a report at Washington Lakes.com when I return!

HUNTER: i fished mid-banks lake today, with no bites. water temp was 37 on the surface, 36.3 at 50 feet down. there is still a little ice today at the south end, including the coulee city harbor/launch.

along the east shore, sonar fish showed at 10-12 down in 30 feet of water; no sonar returns in shallower places. in 55 feet of water, sonar fish were scattered from 35 feet to the bottom, and surprisingly numerous. along the west wall very few showed up on sonar; the few that did were glued to the underwater talus slopes (maybe smallmouth?).

while the fish seemed to have lockjaw, it was a beautiful day on the lake anyway. there were no other boats visible up or down the lake.

good luck to you!

john
