Just wondering where you are fishing for opening day.

I will be terrorizing trout in the lakes of the Sun Lakes chain. Troutlodge planted 10K bigger fish in Blue Lake this year.

I'll be on the Skagit as I hate opening days. Too mant nuts out there that don't care about anybody but their selves.

Good luck over at Blue Lake Easy Limits. Fun area, let us know how you do. Will be heading back to Eastern Washington in 2 weeks not sure where I'm going.

As for this weekend I'm going down to a cabin I have at Lake Cushman to do some work on it.
Like the Old Man says too many people out for me also, especially the westside lakes. Good weekend to plan for future trips smile

I'll skip this year. I'm playing in a golf tourney at Chelan instead. On the trip over on Friday, I'll count at least 200 boats being trailered over the pass and it's amazing how many of those boats have cases of beer ripening in the sun. beer

Lake Washington for me! Produces yer-round and the waterskiers aren't much of a problem until late morning.

I usually stay away on opening day - this year will be no different. I will instead be joining the crowds at the beach, looking for clams.

I'll be at Lake Rapjohn (Pierce County) or at Beaver Lake (King County) this year on opening day.

They both have alot of nice large Rainbows in them.

Wish everyone a great opening day!~

You guys don't know hat you're missing!

Opening day is the greatest free-admission comedy show on earth. Check out Lake Ki!

A few years ago I got to witness a 300 lb woman and her 120 lb husband tip over a TINY little boat that they had been bickering in and bailing out all morning.

Last year I saw a family of about 12 people in a 12 foot aluminum boat going around proudly netting up the little trout that other people had guthooked, killed and released. They all stringered limits without ever casting a line.

That night I saw a drunk guy fall out of his boat with the trolling motor still running.

You don't know what you're missing. wink

somethingsmellefishy,

Here's the best joke this year:

So this guy takes his buddy out to Lake Ki for the opener and they go in his canoe. The guy with the canoe is pretty good in a longboat, but the buddy-boy has never been in one.

They proceed to catch 40 fish in the first two hours and get cocky and start talking about how they will leave when they get to 75 fish.

Well, they start hootin and hollerin when they finally get #75 in the boat (it's about 12:30 pm now) and it's a big deal to them. Not 30 seconds after the hootin and hollering begins there's a loud splash and you can kinda hear the word "sh1t" bubble up through the cold waters of Lake Ki.

Buddy-Boy in the bow leaned over to port side and both jackasses went ass over teakettle outta the canoe. Funnies thing I saw all day and I had the best seat in the house.......the stern of the canoe. beathead

Well Easy… so how was the Sun Lakes craziness… ?

I didn't go out on Saturday … was taking care of yard chores… and honey do's…

But, I did get the boat out and took 1 of the 4 (1 is off at college) boys out on Sunday late afternoon and evening… It is one of those few chances to spend some “one on one” time with my 15 year old. It was great to just sit in the boat and have some quite time and a chance to talk… with our busy lives we don't get a lot of time… to just hang out… during our talking and fishing… he even said that fishing wasn't his thing but he would always come with me just to hang out and talk… this mad me feel good… he did want to clarify that he did always want to hunt with me and that was more his thing…

Now the report… we went to Geneva (Federal Way)… and just dropped anchor and used some bait… the boy was on the bottom and I bobber fished… about 8 feet down… I got 3 to the boat and missed about a dozen… the boy didn't get anything off the bottom and said that was ok he didn't want to switch…

Oh well we had a GREAT time together.

Catching was excellent on Saturday at Blue Lake. We tore it up. I even caught a 20" brooder. I will post pix later. Sunday was a lot slower for some reason.

I headed over to the Seep Lakes area on Wed. and camped on Warden Lake for the opener. Very few people camping and not nothing like a opener that you would expect. Fishing was slow on Sat. Easily caught a limit, but fishing was slow for the most part. Sunny and calm all weekend, so you can't beat no crowds and lots of sun. I did catch one 18 inch carry over, but the rest were stocky 12 inchers.
