Skyguy sorry I know you love your PC games but everyone knows PC games are for little girls that play Meow Meow Kitty Island Adventure. Time to step it up and get a console.

I was at a buddy's place for dinner last weekend and he was stoked about this new video game (this modern warfare thing you speak of) he just picked up and had to show me.

I should first say that the last time I played video games was when I got a nintendo for christmas when I was 11 years old. It broke shortly there after, apparently that little slot isn't meant for toast.

I was totally blown away by how crazy techy super advanced this stuff has gotten. It was like watching a badass movie.

Anyhow, I couldn't figure out how to work the controller. Waaaaaay too many frickin buttons. Seemed like he was having a good time though. It trips me out that you can play people anywhere in the world.

I gave up on video games when my kids began to wax my ass with boring regularity. I'm happy if I can last 10 seconds.

Got sick of the COD series after Black Ops. Trying BF3 right now.

Haven't played a video game for years and my son is a X-box game tester at Microsoft. The new grafics are so realistic.

The gaming these days is so engaging one can get immersed pretty quickly. The realism nowadays in unreal for lack of a better term, with the sounds and visuals at stunning status, especially on a PC with 10X more horsepower than a console (dig).

I have played with a community of players my age that are all over the globe for about the last 5 years. It's not a clan, per se, but a community of guys and gals that all play but the same rules and moderate/boot anyone who doesnt honor the rules.... Which makes for a very enjoyable experience. Thats one of the reasons I dont play COD anymore, because they removed the ability to dedicate a server to and moderate a gameplay style. Fail.

When you get a group of people who all play the same, challenging like folks from all over the world to Search and Destroy or other tactical gametypes, it is fun as hell and superrealistic.

BTW Rag, you'd get Pwned hard if we played together....

So, is an X box kinda' like Pacman on steroids? I'm one of those who never understood the attraction of video games. My poor kids were sure deprived. Never had an Atari or single video game in the house. Heck, didn't even have a TV in the house until they were in junior high school, and I only bought the TV cuz I wanted a VCR, which has recently become obsolete.

When you play a video game you enter into the world of the programmers who made it. You have to do more than identify with a character on the screen.... You must act for it. Identification through action has a special kind of hold. Like playing a sport, it puts people into a focused, and highly charged state of mind. For many people, what is being pursued in the video game is not just a score, but that altered state.
In some ways... there are parallels between that altered state and how people act on this forum!!

BF3 is the [censored]. And consoles are for kids.

I loved BF3 campaign but the co-op was to much going on.

I just got the old lady the new Zelda....(Yes she a Zelda whore lol) I was very impressed with Wii on that one.

8 years is recent, Riley. The rest of what you wrote didn't come thru in English on my computer.

I still use my VCR. A TV show (that comes on later than I usually stay up) I like isn't included in the OnDemand catch up feature, and we don't have one of those TIVO things cuz we haven't upgraded to the digital flat screen yet, so I record it on the VCR and watch it the next night.
