I actually thought it would work, proving once again that I'm far too optimistic that ANY of them are capable of solving problems. Foolish me.

Now I hear congress is going to try to "work around" the automatic cuts. Surely a grassroots organization will swell to punish any and all lawmakers that contribute to the work-around efforts... (by work around, I mean neutering, not actually doing the job the committee was supposed to do -- reducing the budget debt).

WHEN they try to work around the automatic cuts, I'll be curious (skeptical?) to see if the right is outraged or not. They say they want cuts, well here's 1.2T of them gift wrapped.

We just need to bring in more money to balance the budget, you know like getting it from .1% who own half of Americas net worth.
That's 315,000 individuals.

The good news with the failure is that the Pentagon budget will get hit, which is absolutely necessary and would otherwise probably not occur.

Fire them all.

Better than firing them. Take them out and shoot them on the White House Lawn and reconvene in a week. I bet we would get a result the second time around. If not repeat the process until there is an agreement.

This Congress must be the worst in the history of mankind.

What's your complaint? We have the best Congress money can buy! Money from the corporate elite who profit from putting the country in the sh!t can. The same people you seem to defend, if not idolize.

I read today that we are now borrowing 38 cents of every dollar we spend.

Personally I think the super committee was designed to fail so neither party would have to take sole blame for defense spending cuts.

Poor Panetta, claiming cuts will hurt the Pentagon and he wont be able to deliver on their missions. I guess all those issues that led to Two trillion missing dollars announced back in '01 are all fixed now, and you are getting the most out of every dollar..... please!

Maybe we can get back some of those planeloads of money we sent to Iraq. Is that the type of spending the Rs are objecting too. Or are they upset because grandma's hip replacment cost too much?

My complaint is that Congress can not get thier [censored] together enough to cut spending and raise taxes to get this Country back on the right track. A little balance in (and some leadership) Congress is all I would like to see.
