I read the articles discussing the idea a few years ago, as there were many. This is not a new thing.

Ya,I know it's not a new thing. Seldom see any discussion in the local media though. I'm sure BoA likes it that way.

Still no specific suggestions where budget cuts can be made without damage to the state?

Only print documents in English.
User finer print, thus using less ink and paper. wink

Instead of cutting slow down spending. Charge NOAA more rent. Then stop paying off the tribes and renegotiate a compact or two. Stop paying millions to the tribes for gas tax revenue allowing them to undercut nontribal gas sellers by 20 cents a gallon. Instead of cutting let non-tribal gaming flourish and tax it. If you must cut then get rid of atleast 20% of state workers and cut the pensions and benefits of the rest in line with private sector workers. Legalize online gaming. Privatize the ferry system. Cut the DOT budget by 20% and let 3 guys do the jobs that 6 do now...or 8...

Increase spending at a rational rate. My income didn't increase 38% over the past 8 years. State spending did. In the past 3 years my personal income decreased by 25%.

I don't see any effort to reduce the state budget there, and increasing at that rate is unsustainable.

Sg.........Maybe you should ask, "Now that all the cows are out, should we close the gate?" (that would be making a different choice)

The time to check spending is when you have money.....not when it's all gone.

Since the expansion of grant funded goodies of all varieties, local governments spend like drunken sailors, and leave us on the hook.

Here's a hint: Just because something's on sale.......doesn't mean you can afford to buy it.

Send Governor Chrissy to spend the rest of her life on a Tribal reservation.......Neah Bay, maybe? smile
