wntrrn - Why yes, yes they have.
But the thing is... you have to first take off the blinders of partisan hatred, then possess at least a cursory cognitive capability... and finally, a remedial understanding of how state government really works.
How does government work? When finances are good you expand spending by 32%? And then, when times are tough, you call any money that is not appropriated toward an increase spending a "cut...." Ya, I guess that I don't have a cursory grasp of how governance works. Drink it up. There is no hatred, only questions. If you really want to sound literate, 'splain what the D's have done in our state that is so special. Then 'splain it to me how it's sustainable. I'll bet you can't do either. Other than blaming the other side or calling me an idiot, you won't be able to do either. Keep licking that box.

Please explain it to me why a state that has been solely run by democrats isn't rolling in a big financial surplus. Maybe, if you pull off your blinders, you'll be able to do it in a way that doesn't involve your mouth licking the all mighy one's box. Not quite sure how you'd be willing to pull that one off. How do you expect Washington not to be effected by the worst recession since the great depression when the whole country, and that means every other state, is having as bad or worse financial problems than us? The world doesn't end at the Washington border.

High tech. Bio tech. Those damned democrats have been attracting businesses for years. How is it possible all of these industries are attracted to a democratically controlled state?

Wntrrn,
The anti-Democrat answer you seem to be looking for is that regardless of the economy - good times or bad times - The Ds consistently push for more spending. Their hardest core constituents never will have enough public spending, and there are usually enough Ds in the Legislature who just cannot say no to a publicly funded program. That is a long time flaw of Democratic philosophy and is at the heart of why we have to have a two party system.
On the other hand, and there is always the other hand, the long time flaw of Republican philosophy is that business should not be regulated or taxed, and that the environment needs no protection, and the poor are at fault for being poor, and that God is somehow magically always on their side.
The present economic crisis cannot be solved by either the Republicans or the Democrats. Refer to the Ratigan rant; Congress is owned. So is the state Legislature, but to a far lesser extent, but to the extent that they are owned, they are bought so much cheaper, a bargain really, if you look at it from a business sense.
Had Dino won the governorship in either election, the WA economy would still be as bad off as it is.

Sg Wow, you actually have a good grasp on reality and aren't as much of a liberal wack job as most are here.
