Illy, I think you need to trot on back to some website where they actually think your one sentence responses are clever, rather than the empty and idiotic "observations" that they are.

P.S. The only "war on Christianity" I see is the one waged by so-called Christians every day, who fail to show virtually any semblance of Christ-like or Christian behavior.

Right wing fundamentalist fruitcakes have determined that the best way to get their way is to be the most hate filled and belligerent selves as they always have been, but when someone complains about it or tries to stop it, that's when they trot out the "tolerance", "compassion" and other bullschit that they have none of themselves.
Tolerance does not including tolerating hateful bigots.
Tis regrettable that all the hate and discontent is constantly aired, rather than a bit of honest common ground seeking. Hell used to be Republicans and Democrats and their subdivisions were, first of all, Americans and proud of it. Now we got lots more folks with loyanty to this and that wing, Dems. Libs, Republicns, Independents and conservatives etc ad nauseaum. The country is fragmented. Who is responsible? I can hear the denials and accusations already. Along with the trash mouths. England has the same problem with lots of folks more loyal to their political classification than England. Their history from the time of the Boer Wars on is a classic example of party over country. We'll be there soon. Sad
Todd I am sorry that I don't use enough foul language to make my posts more intellegible to you. Guess that goes for Aunty Moo too. However, if gratuitous foul language is what it takes to sound literate and witty, I guess I will just have to limp along.
Lol That was a pretty good witticism odd. AND no foul language for a change. Perhaps I convict you prematurely. Naw, for a man that has all that background you are still fos.

Real men don't need to bash gays to feel like real men...and real candidates don't have to resort to acting like foolish children so that they can the foolish children to vote for them.
Perry is a fool, but less foolish than those who would vote for him.
Seems to work the same for both parties. Pander to the group or groups that are likely to vote for you and if you win the office do what the BIG money contributors, who donate to both sides, want. The system is broken.
Just read in this morning's paper that Ron Paul, who won't be elected, nonetheless would immediately eliminate 5 federal departments as his first step in government downsizing. That almost sounds appealing to non-thinkers. The 5 are: Energy, Commerce, Interior, Education, and HUD (Housing and Urban Development). So immediately there would be no FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), BPA, TVA; no Census Bureau, NOAA (Weather Service, Ocean Service, NMFS, NIST, and others; Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife, Bureau of Reclamation, BIA. There are other agencies, but I couldn't think of them without looking them up. Anyway, that's what Ron Paul says he would do, and also put the US back on the gold standard.
Anyway, I began thinking about what some of these agencies do, and the economic and functional chaos that would ensue with immediate, not gradual phasing out, elimination. The upshot is that even when politicians tell us things they would do, it seems like they only make good soundbites for the uninformed.
US Fish and Wildlife and NMFS could be combined. Census should be handled at State Level HUD and Postal Service either need to make a profit or give way to private sector. Energy needs to be more contolled at state level
Yes, USFWS and NMFS could be combined, but in what Department that remains after Commerce and Interior are eliminated. Census is specified as a federal function in the Constitution; therefore I don't see it working out under individual states. (Side note: Gary Locke as Commerce Sec. oversaw what likely was the best census ever; way better than anything he did as WA governor.) Don't know much about HUD, but I think the purpose of the USPS is to deliver the mail, not make a profit. Focus might be re-directed toward better efficiency to make it more cost effective, but Americans apparently like their Saturday mail delivery. Energy at the state level would be a clusterfvk since many federal energy projects are interstate, like what BPA oversees: WA, OR, ID, & MT. Same with TVA. And then have one state permit and regulate a utility with a dam in one state that floods another state with its reservoir. Uh, don't think so.
That's why I shared that RP proposal. People say stupid stuff without thinking through the ramifications. If those federal departments were eliminated overnight, as he pledges he would do, and other candidates could also, all hell would break loose. I'd like to see greater efficiency in government as much as the next guy, but suggestions create bigger problems than the existing ones are just plain stupid, IMO.

Ron Paul is no better than Perry or any other of the clowns in the Clown Parade...he's making claims of what he'd do in order to get idiots to vote for him, while he knows full well that he can't possibly do 99% of those things.
You would think Paul would be aware of the disaster that ensued when Churchill advocated and accomplished the return of England to the Gold. It is interesting how well the DNC propaganda efforts are managing, with media help, to make all GOP candidates look like idiots or charlatans. And yet the DNC has no one execpt a failed incumbent to work with.

Fish on...
Todd
So...................
Is he any different than any other politician running for office? "I'll do this and I'll do that. I'll balance the budget. I'll get us out of Gitmo. I'll get us out of the Middle East. I'll make sure that people can watch us debate issues on Capitol Hill (never happened)."
Libs are tolerant as long as you don't disagree with their opinions. If you disagree, you're a f'n idiot. Very tolerant. You want to talk about hate speach. Listen to Chris Matthews or Olberman being oh so tolerant with anyone who disagrees with their opinion. Pretty funny, really. I don't give any of them the time of day. Left or right.

Gregoire. "We don't have a budget deficit." 2 months after being elected we suddenly have a 2.5 billion dollar deficit. Which only grew with every breath she took.
Thank God I've never enjoyed KoolAid, no matter who was serving it.

Yup, the deficit is Gregoire's fault, just like it's Obama's...
I love the "centrists" on here who are just as big of right wing jerkoffs as the ones who cop to it.

In a world full of your meaningless and substanceless "witticisms", you have continued to impress me with your ability to come up with even more ridiculous drivel every time you share your vast intellect with us, Illyrian...this one will be very, very hard to top, though.
Anyone with an IQ over 42 recognizes that Bozo the Clown would be a standout in the 2012 Republican field...these guys give clowns a bad name.
I won't blame it on them for being clowns, however...I'll blame it on clowns like you for actually giving them enough credibilty that they decide to run for office.
If any one of them gets elected we will be the laughing stock of the world, and we'll deserve it.

You didn't enjoy the rabid "we don't need a surplus" GOP KoolAid? Good thing Rossi wasn't elected.
Our state has been run by D's for 28+ years at every level of government. We must be flourishing in infrastucture, social programs, education, etc....... Or, not.
Stlhead, where do you live that is so prosperous under our own gov monopoly? Must be the R's fault even though they control nothing in our state. I forgot, it's Rossi's fault. Pretty funny, folks.

I listened to a woman stating there is no budget deficit, while running for office, even though we all knew our state was spending itself into financial disaster. Drink it up.

You are so damn funny Todd I think you missed a bet. You could do standup political comedy and draw a crowd. Your education and facility with the scatalogical aspects of the vernacular are commedable. Too bad you are so detached from reality and so desperate to be one leg up. How esle can your head get there.

I've always been curious... and the reason is that in all the years I've read your posts, my primary opinion of them has been; how can a guy who's so well-read be so completely and utterly clueless and misguided when it comes to politics?

Have the D's actually shown you anything resembling governance in any shape or form that you believe is different from the R's? Reflect on our state and then respond.

wntrrn - Why yes, yes they have.
But the thing is... you have to first take off the blinders of partisan hatred, then possess at least a cursory cognitive capability... and finally, a remedial understanding of how state government really works.
You appear to have neither of the latter and an abundance of the former... so it's no wonder you can't see it for yourself.

First of all the R's don't believe in rainy day funds. If a crisis happens then the first shot is against the "freeloaders". If you get laid off you are a freeloader and on your own. Then they go after anything low level government. Nixed or outsourced via no bid contracts. See "freeloaders". Next is the removal of all regulations on business. Pollute or violate employment laws all you want. Next is the removal of all oversight. Any regulations that remain will simply not be enforced. Then there's those dredded taxes that keep businesses from existing. And those who don't pay any tax to begin with will receive a nice year end refund courtesy of the rest of us. Other ideas are gving away the "under utilized" state forests, parks and whatever assests corporations drool over. Any other reflecions you'd like wntrrn?

Please explain it to me why a state that has been solely run by democrats isn't rolling in a big financial surplus. Maybe, if you pull off your blinders, you'll be able to do it in a way that doesn't involve your mouth licking the all mighy one's box. Not quite sure how you'd be willing to pull that one off.

How does government work? When finances are good you expand spending by 32%? And then, when times are tough, you call any money that is not appropriated toward an increase spending a "cut...." Ya, I guess that I don't have a cursory grasp of how governance works. Drink it up. There is no hatred, only questions.
If you really want to sound literate, 'splain what the D's have done in our state that is so special. Then 'splain it to me how it's sustainable. I'll bet you can't do either. Other than blaming the other side or calling me an idiot, you won't be able to do either. Keep licking that box.

Lol. You must be hard up 4Salt. Playing Odd's Paladin seems beneath you. But to each his own. Kinda like stud poker I guess, dipspits, a pair. O, btw tell me about the 'game mode' and your adjectival diahrrea. You use the term 'hate' so often that it means nothing, zip, smoke.

How do you expect Washington not to be effected by the worst recession since the great depression when the whole country, and that means every other state, is having as bad or worse financial problems than us? The world doesn't end at the Washington border.

Talk about blinders. Look around. We've faired better than most states. You sir are an idiot.

High tech. Bio tech. Those damned democrats have been attracting businesses for years. How is it possible all of these industries are attracted to a democratically controlled state?

The anti-Democrat answer you seem to be looking for is that regardless of the economy - good times or bad times - The Ds consistently push for more spending. Their hardest core constituents never will have enough public spending, and there are usually enough Ds in the Legislature who just cannot say no to a publicly funded program. That is a long time flaw of Democratic philosophy and is at the heart of why we have to have a two party system.
On the other hand, and there is always the other hand, the long time flaw of Republican philosophy is that business should not be regulated or taxed, and that the environment needs no protection, and the poor are at fault for being poor, and that God is somehow magically always on their side.
The present economic crisis cannot be solved by either the Republicans or the Democrats. Refer to the Ratigan rant; Congress is owned. So is the state Legislature, but to a far lesser extent, but to the extent that they are owned, they are bought so much cheaper, a bargain really, if you look at it from a business sense.
Had Dino won the governorship in either election, the WA economy would still be as bad off as it is.

Wow, you actually have a good grasp on reality and aren't as much of a liberal wack job as most are here.
