My impression is that younger Iranians are cosmopolitan and are not very receptive of the old hardliners.Todd That is my understanding as well. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the next 20 years.

Gentlemen, Perhaps, your subsequent comments to my post above reflect the fact that you either missed my point, or failed to make the implied extrapolations. How's this for a dot....
An _________ sub launches a tactical nuclear missile at Iran. The missile is detected by Iran and the incoming missile is redirected at Tel Aviv, or the launching sub, or....
Perhaps, if true, the Iranians issued a very loud shot across someone's bow that was unheard by most.... This is fiction. If the attack did happen it would be an Israeli air strike or Tomahawks from a US surface ship. (and probably our air) Can't see the military necessity for a secret-squirrel submarine attack. You just have to keep the first one secret. After that it doesn't matter. Hope it never happens, though.

The Iranians may be able to react, but I don't believe that they are very strong in the secret squirrel department. They fought the Iraqis to a draw. They weren't resourceful enough to keep their F14's flying.
They have historically turned to Europe, namely Germany, for basic technology.
