Is there a way we can start keeping track of lake records?

In most cases the honor system must be used, but pictures speak a thousand words.

Let me know if we can start keeping track.

Thanks

An interesting idea. I think you would amost have to have a picture requirement or I can just see the e-mail posting coming in "10 lb bluegill from Green lake". eek I can run it by Aaron. Don't hold your breath though because as usual we have more stuff on the back burner than we can keep up with...

in most cases, i would assume people would have the pictures the back up their catches.

picture > no picture

if not, we can put a notation that no pictures were submited. once a picture of any other fish, bigger or smaller is submited, it should always trump the non picture submission.

website coding is needed, i can lend a hand...

this is a good idea...

the whole "record" thing has great potential for increasing interest in this sport but the "great salters" of the pre- WWII era have made "overall records" (e.g. the biggest fish ever of any species) impossible to beat because the records in the books are bogus.... this is a real problem with walleye, bass and pike...

however, local records and lake records are a different story....

wondering if we could encourage participation from tackle shops and resorts in regard to providing certified scales and credible witnesses......

if done right it would increase their exposure and hence revenues.....

I think Aaron is working on something along these lines. Yup, that means we have another site overhaul in the wings. It'll be pretty cool when he's all done with it.
