Has anyone found any 2 cycle oil that does not smoke?

Sounds like you have a problem with you spark plugs or carb. Exactly how much smoke are you talking about?

I remember some guys saying Quicksilver oil doesn't smoke as much as the others.

It's not like an old Ford on the highway blowing coal out the pipe. It just smells bad when the wind is coming over the stern.
I've heard there are synthetic's out there that don't smoke at all. I am tooooo cheap to test them all.
I want to start learning from other people's mistakes and stop making them for myself.

I had a 2004 oil-injected Yamaha that smoked like any ole' 2 stroke does. I had been using Yamalube as thats what came with the motor.

I ran out of Yamalube so I tried Pennzoil synthetic outboard oil and found that the smoke did decrease. It didn't go away completly but it was definatly better.

After using the synthetic for a couple tankfulls I found that the motor also started faster than with the Yamalube.

I got a bigger boat and went with a 4 stroke Yamaha 150 and Yamaha 8. I will NEVER,EVER own another 2 stroke. Its so nice to be able to fish all day and not have a headache from a cloud of blue smoke.

Any TCW3 Synthetic oil will make an improvement, the higher the synthetic content the better. I used FICHT synthetic which is 100% and there was no smoke at all, can't get it in my area now so I have swithched to Mercury which is 50% synthetic and it works well. Another BIG advantage to the synthetic oils is less carbon build up on the tops of the pistons, that means a lot longer engine life.

If its oil injected there may be a piece of dirt or whatever lodged in the metering valve. These valves are pretty tempermental. It's easier to replace them then to try and clean them out. My 115/80 Mercury had this problem initially. After the metering valve replacement it has performed with little or no smoke. The smoke that I get now is just on start up. Have fun and good luck.

Thank you very much for all the info. You've answered my question and I will try to find pure synthetic oil.
